Adding a 1D and 1 G

Created by: jazzhandz321
Team: 2024-25 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: May 13, 2024
Published: May 13, 2024
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
The 2LW spot would be up for grabs both Minten and Cowan will be given an extended look, with McMann playing 4RW in the mean time. If one of Minten or Cowan can perform well with that line they can continue to play with the big club. If not McMann will take over 2LW until the deadline, and it'd allow for Reaves to play 4RW in the meanwhile. After the deadline, you'd push McMann back down the lineup and run lines similar to this:

Knies - Matthews - Nylander

McMann - Tavares - Sprong

Robertson - Domi - Kane

Dewar - Holmberg - TDL add (B. Tanev would be ideal)

OR

Knies - Matthews - Kane

TDL (Mangiapagne would be ideal) - Tavares - Nylander

Robertson - Domi - Sprong

Dewar - Holmberg - McMann

I'm looking at the roster and still can't figure out who the 1D is supposed to be.

No reason for the Leafs to trade for Olesiak. Just sign a UFA for 4.6,
Karlsson at 8,5m plus two forwards at 1m each costs 10m. Leafs are better off with Jarnkrok, Liljgren, Kampf at 7,5m, plus 2.5 m in cap and keeping their first.

NSH declines this. NSH won't be able to stay cap compliant with that team by retaining that on Saros and taking on Marner's 10.9M in caphit. Its real money sure, but doesn't do them much good if they can't sign who they need to next year and stay cap compliant. NSH already has nearly 12.5M in deadcap next season, adding another 12.5M for a goalie not playing for the team and one player is going to make it way too difficult to manage.

the penguins straight laugh you off the phone.

TOR fans are something else...."we need a 1D" but think scraps will get it.

The penguins don't need to make a trade. If TOR wants to dump those cap dumps, they are going to have to do the same thing the penguins did... pay someone else to take them.
It's not the penguins job to help you win a cup. We won't burden our team to help yours. We are ok with EK where he is. Yes I would be open to moving him, but sure as hell not for that.

When you open up enough cap space come talk to us about price.
The TB 1st is a good start. You are probably missing a decent prospect to go along with it. Don't bother with Robertson I said decent.
No the penguins will not be retaining.

These trades never work for Nashville. We're not moving the goalie we could compete with for a winger you couldn't. I wouldn't mind Marner in Nashville, but for other pieces. He's not an organizational need and the move does not logically make sense. There are lots of picks and prospects in Nashville's system who may be available for the right return. Package some of them together, add in a 50% retained JT, and flip the assets you receive to another team interested in moving you a top goaltender.

Thank you for attending my Ted Talk.
