Likely cost quite a bit more to move up 13 spots.

a young RHD (fit the team window)
a 1st
a 3rd
a young sandpaper player

The value is there. 13 spots is not a huge gap, and we are not talking about a top 10 player!

But it could easily be a top 10 player to then depending how the draft goes. Also considering the talent drop off, 13 spots is a big gap. If they want Barron, they will just send a second for him. They get a superior player at 14 than him.

I love how people assess things without having a clue about a player!!

2024 is one, if not the worst draft of this decade.

What lmao gotta play 3rd pairing to be called a 3rd pairing dman. Barron only played top 4 and was sent down because he was waivers exempt. MTL have a lot of good young dman. The reason MTL are at the bottom of the league is because they get no scoring from the 2nd/3rd/4th line (Newhook/Dach injuries are a big reason)

just not impressed by Baron, rather draft the best dman available at 14,

Barron + 3rd doesn't equal moving up sorry

I'd say you do not use a chart value to prove your point while habs have made such trade in previous drafts?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

well in fact it affects the chart value of the pick, rhd being a rare product in the NHL makes Barron even more valuable. This draft is deep in d-man, but the fact that you can land an active player should ring a bell for a team like SJ that needs to have youngsters that fit their window!

Or, crazy idea here, they draft one of Yakemchuk, Parekh, Jiricek, Elick or Emery with that pick.

This team is going to be bad for 3-4 more years. 4-6 years likely fit their window with 6 being quite a stretch.

Actually, you're right you do not have any window close for the next 12 years. I was just offering a true PMD not a gamble to be.

Yakemchuk won’t be available at 14th, Elick & Emery aren’t going that high, maybe one will go in the late 1st. But I agree I would take Adam Jiricek over Justin Barron with the 14th OA. But you still get the 27th, but SJ also have 33 & 42 if I’m not mistaking

Man Montreal AGMs are a cesspool for trades involving average to mediocre prospects being heralded as top prospects and high value assets when in this universe that’s not the case.

would be fun to know why the Habs prospect pool has been among the top 3 for the last 4 years tho!! Oh yeah, we have fans who do not follow the sport and try to show some kind of expertise by bashing players!
