Description

I think Gus stays. It gives Wallstedt, who is still only 21, a bit more time to dip his toes into the league while Gus re-establishes his value. Fleury also winding down with less starts plays well into that plan for Jesper.

McTavish would be a great fit for the Wild. Big and versatile and can drive plays for Zucc. He could pivot that second line next season and then Guerin could decide whether to play him at wing the year after with Yurov and/or Heidt coming. If both look like the real deal in 25-26, then perhaps he also trades Zucc's final year back to the NYR or someone else at that time.

McTavish is completely untouchable, especially for a Smurf. Verbeeks trying to build a team that's hard to play against, installing a 5'9" 2C is antithetical to that goal.

Fair enough if that's what he wants to do, although I wouldn't call Rossi easy to play against.

Compared to McTavish, he very much is. Verbeek hasn't drafted a single player below 6' while in Anaheim, he wouldn't have interest in Rossi.

As these guys are mentioning, there’s quite honestly a 0% of getting McT for Rossi. You’d be hard-pressed to have chosen a less Verbeek-type player on the Wild than Rossi, and a more Verbeek-type player on the Ducks than McT. Mason is legit untouchable. His name has been floated for the captaincy (though I don’t think he lands it yet at his age)

I think that it's the generally accepted view, among both Anaheim fans and Anaheim management, that our top 6 is pretty well set for the balance of the decade: Cutter Gauthier and Trevor Zegras at LW, Leo Carlsson and Mason McTavish at C, and Troy Terry at RW. Too bad that Matt Boldy is out of our reach . . . laugh
