Laine is our "house money" guy; we're under no pressure to move him due to having plenty of cap space, so there's no reason to move him for anything less than what he can be if he bounces back to prior performance levels in union blue - a top line near-PPG scoring winger. Given that our prospect pool is already in excellent shape, tossing that away for cap loads and a deferred mid-1st isn't really appealing.

Hawks obviously decline. They aren't looking to trade Jones, and if they were, it wouldn't be for a pair of cap dumps. And Nichushkin can't be traded while he's in the player assistance program. He's not even eligible for reinstatement until November.

Brother you are not getting Mazur or a 1st for a guy who can't keep away from nose candy.

cool, you're not getting a guy who led the league in playoff goals for a dusty winger/kind of center paid 5.5m and a gamble on Mazur. No clue what Mazur will be able to do in the nhl, if he makes it.

If Jones were to ask for a trade and CHI wanted to oblige his request, the options would likely be very limited. In such a case, this is not a bad offer at all that I think CHI would very much consider. But if this were an offer made without a trade request already in place, I don't think it would be enough to bring to him and his agent. Essentially, if you wanted CHI to ask him to waive his full NMC for an offer, it would need to include more futures and not cap dumps. In that case, I would be asking for the addition of Andrew Gibson, for starters.

Leading the league in playoff goals doesn't mean jack **** when you keep getting kicked out of the playoffs because you have a drug problem.

Nobody's contesting Nichushkin's ability as a player. His value is less than zero because he's one more failed piss test from being potentially banned from the league,

Sounds good! Rather not gamble on a player who's on the cusp of being banned from the league.
