Nielsen isn't available from Detroit, You want one of our #3C you're looking at Helm or Sheahan.

scooping teams 2C centres or players with NMC isn't a logical method to obtain a 3c

Calgary's not trading Backlund, he was 4th in Selke voting last season and is way too valuable as a Shutdown Centre who can also score 20G, 50Pts. You'd have to pony up a lot to get him or 5/6 other guys on this list.

I would say you can take Nielsen and his contract for free if he waived his NMC but yeah there's no way he's getting traded.

Actually, a second line center is exactly what Bonino was in Anaheim and in Vancouver before the Pens stuck him with Toronto's failed 1R and New York's underperforming 2L to build a third "first" line.

If a GM is dumb enough to tell a player on an NMC he wants to trade him to a repeat champion, they're 80% likely to feel a bit hurt, weigh their options, and accept. The other 20% will just accept.

But I think some of those teams might want something back for those guys, and you're a bit over the cap.

Since Detroit is over the Cap, Pit is likely to try to offer something for one of their top centers, first. I'm sure they have 4C candidates in WBS.

Toronto also has some cap troubles, but their top couple centers are pretty popular there, as I understand it.
