There is no way that you can get a "Good Young Top 4, Puck-Moving LHD" without giving up much, so your question is irrelevant.

Have to agree with Flames89 that you are not gonna find a top 4 Dman without giving up much. Signing of Mark Streit I think adds some good puck movement to the backend and leadership, especially coming off a cup win last season. Sergachev was your best bet from within the system but obviously that is not an option anymore. I think if your D looks something like this:

Streit-Weber
Alzner-Petry
Davidson/Schlemko-Benn

Pretty solid D if you ask me. Especially the right side.

I said without giving up too much. So I am willing to give up the future but not our core.

As a Sabres fan, I will tell you there's not much out there.
We had McCabe, Gorges, and Falk. We traded for Scandella and Beaulieu. We signed Antipin. We have Guhle developing. We chased Butcher. And I we still need a good LHD.
