My Least Favourite MB Trade

Created by: Kotkaniemi15
Team: 2017-18 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 11, 2017
Published: Sep. 11, 2017
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Most of his trades benefited Montreal at least a bit, but this one is horrendous. Andrighetto is now a top-6 player (albeit on a weak offence) and Martinsen is an AHL player that does nothing.

I agree completely. The others were debatable but this is plain bad.

This was MB showing he truly doesn't understand "value". Rather than thinking ahead of time to not being forced to lose players to waivers, etc, he makes bone headed moves like this. I'm sure Julien had a say in this but if they were smart they know that attaining a guy like Martinsen could of been done with minimal expense and cost. Instead because a player doesn't seem to be flourishing due to his sick sense of "value" decides to ship off a young player capable of scoring for a 4th liner who is potentially not even good enough for the 4th line in MTL.

Bravo MB bravo. Keeping adding that CHaracter and grit. That's whats wins games right?

At least Shaw has some use. And there's no way to predict who will be avaliable. But, yeah it WAS pretty bad.

Agreed but considering Chicago was not going to be able to sign Shaw and they had to move out some salary, i don't understand why we paid a premium for a energetic 2-3 winger? Once again MB showing that he values grit and character on a higher level than skill.... He gave the equivalent of a 1st rounder in return for Shaw.... that makes no sense especially since we have that exact type of player already in Gallagher.

Martinsen has the Hockey IQ of a Tim-bit league player. And cement blocks for hands...yes he's big but he's not aggressive what-so-ever, so what's his point?

MB thinks the NHL is still in the 90's...in the dead-puck era.
