I'm going to pass on the Mcdonagh talks... They aren't going anywhere and the value you are putting on your prospects is a little outrageous imo.
If you can make a real offer for him (St. Louis offer was Dunn, 1st, Top 6 wing (Smith), Top 4 D (Bouw) for Nash, and McDonagh) then we can continue talks.

I'll have to talk to my AGM but then how about Chabot, Batherson, and Borowiecki for McDonagh and a mid-round pick? We'd add a prospect if you retain.

Tons of people are (wisely) giving up, but I'm not. Whether I'm masochistic, stupid, or both remains to be seen.

Would Derek Forbort, who is Drew Doughty's partner on a league-minimum deal, move the needle? I'm going for Chabot, and I'd add a considerable plus.

I want to know how you think that compares to Dunn, 1st, Bouw, Smith for Nash and McDonagh

How is the McDonaugh deal coming? Do you want to start taking an offer for OEL? Or should I wait a bit longer?

I want to know how you think that compares to Dunn, 1st, Bouw, Smith for Nash and McDonagh

Well first, you get to keep Nash for a potential playoff this year, you get a good forward prospect and a good defence prospect who could be NHL-ready already, as well as an extra LHD in the lineup. You're also getting some cap space. That's a late 1st, an older D, a good D prospect but not as good as Chabot, and a 2nd/3rd line forward as well as you're losing Nash. With my offer, you could keep Nash (or trade him later), as well as get a potential top pairing d-man in Chabot, and i believe you were interested in a forward prospect. Batherson could be a top 6 forward soon.

How is the McDonaugh deal coming? Do you want to start taking an offer for OEL? Or should I wait a bit longer?

We're still going after McDonagh. Right now i think Ekman-Larsson is the 3rd guy on our list.

i'm not sure i see him as a top pairing guy.

If I add some good pieces onto him, would that change your mind?

Also, for what it's worth, two things. First, you've pissed off damn near everyone in the game to the point where nobody will want to give you anything better. I'm still holding out hope, however, that your trade with me wasn't an aberration. For that reason, if you want anything that remotely resembles a 1LD, I'm your best bet. Second, Forbort is miles better than your LD core. Phaneuf is pylon and enormously overpaid; Oduya is a shell of his former self; Borowiecki is a #7 at best; and Claesson has been a huge disappointment this year.

I know but if we're giving up good pieces like Chabot i think we'd need an actual top pairing guy.

He plays with Doughty and doesn't look out of place at all. Is that enough? Forbort is not flashy like McDonagh or OEL, but he's reliable. Moreover, if anyone with a flashy 1LD still has enough patience to talk to you, I'd be very surprised.

            Jean-Gabriel Pageau for Nick Bjugstad.
            OR
Thomas Chabot + Ryan Dzingel for Tyler Johnson

            Straight up, no extras.

You'll have to agree with me that Nash isn't as good as he once was. I have gotten next to 0 offers for Nash and have had him on the block for 2 months (@50% mind you).

            Comparing players
Chabot > Dunn. Personally think Chabot has the higher upside but skill right now between the 2 is equal
Smith >>> Nash. Younger, faster, better hands
Bouwmeester >>>> Boro. Sure Bouw is older and costs 5x as much but he is still a Top 4 defenceman and would play well with Shattenkirk
1st >> Batherson. Sure it's a late 1st, but 2019 should still have a great selection of young prospects in a position better suited to my team (like a RHD or LHD prospect, or a strong LW prospect).

We already have a 2LD. We'd still be looking for an upgrade if we did this.

What would it take to beat St. Louis' offer? (Make sure you look at our untouchables list. Is there anything not including those guys or a 1st, or our 2019 2nd? Me might even move Turris in a deal for McDonagh.)
It's okay if you decide to take St Louis' offer in the end, though is it okay if we know what we could give you to make you change your mind and trade McDonagh to us. thanks.

In what world is Dion Phaneuf, Johnny Oduya, Mark Borowiecki, or Freddie Claesson a 2LD? Phaneuf and Oduya are way past their prime, Boro is basically a non-skilled Radko Gudas, and Claesson has let me down a lot this year.

No, i'm not saying we have 2 second pairing LHDs, i'm saying we have one in Phaneuf. Sure, he's way past his prime, but in his prime he was a #1 defenseman. Now he's more of a second pairing guy. Sure, he's got a big contract but that has nothing to do with whether he's a top 4 guy or not.

Well your untouchable list is really every player who has any sort of value on your team. And if you aren't willing to move your 1st or even a 2nd in 2019 then you really aren't serious at all in your pursuit for a 1 LHD... And as many a Dragon/Shark would say. I'm Out
