Saw this and made me think, What would Shea Weber be worth?

http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nhl-puck-daddy/why-trading-shea-weber-finally-makes-sense-for-nashville-175501590.html

Don't take this too seriously, if you were a Preds fan what would make seeing Shea Weber go a little easier, I think this wouldn't be too bad I just threw random shit together I have no idea what the return on Weber would be. 11 years at 8m is insane though.

Why is every pens trade involve the pens unloading all the crappy players they don't want and getting Hart/Norris level players back. A lot of mediocre players does not equal a good one.

Damn.

This is laughable. Weber is not going anywhere unless someone named Malkin is in the deal.

You're right Astoria, hard to know Weber's value......As WALaxer suggested.....something like Malkin...with term and money makes sense. Weber and Ellis...two right Dman would probably be too much to surrender for the Pres.
But let's imagine, the Preds want to move on from Weber and his contract. They have to take similar money in the short term at least. How's this Kunitz, Hornquist and a 1st rounder. Talent wise, win for Pens, by the summer of 2017, Kunitz is gone and in a few more years so he Horny. It's not like Weber and Preds have accomplishment much more than being a middling club. For the Pens if they traded for Weber, $ 40 m in cap for just their top five players....Yikes.

He is overvalued. It would probably start at Malkin and at that point the pens should give it a hard pass. Age is catching up, plus he has never been a good possession guy. Tough strong and a great point trigger man, but overvalued when looked at analytically

you guys are out of your minds thinking weber is over valued. he is a top nhl defenceman who would become a dominate player in the east, yes aging but still 30 and would fetch at least one 1st rounder a top prospect and another mid level prospect easily. Plus malkin is a proven performer without sid the kid there, so trade Sid for Weber and a pick would maybe be the route but neither team is in any position to do this deal

<<< This was sarcasm.

Weber is still very much a beast. "Overvalued" he is not. His contract is an albatross however which diminishes his value as a player in terms of trade value but doesn't mean he isn't still a top Dman. Anyhow the question was what is he worth? To be absolutely honest. I have no clue. I think he is untradeable. Both because he is a good player who still has many years ahead of him but also because no one under this present collective bargaining agreement will want that contract. I think he is in Nashville for his career.
