I disagree with krakowitz. Caps can afford to trade Grubauer as they have Sorokin waiting for time.

Samsonov. Different Ilya. Still on a different continent this year.

Pheonix Copley might get a few NHL games this year and if he goes on a ten game winning streak, he'd make Grubauer tradeable.

Colin Miller's status as a first pair defenseman is questionable with Vegas, and a definite no in Washington. He played third pair minutes in Boston. So yes. This is an overpayment from the Caps perspective, and, now that Vegas has started the season, they're probably not in a rush to trade away someone who's doing alright while playing a career high seventeen minutes a night.

MTL has a bunch extra dmen available for cheap. Benn, Davidson, Morrow, Schlemko, etc Wouldn't cost much. A draft pick.
