Also a no from buffalo. I wouldnt call either d elite, but they have potential to be very good, and its our worst position. We have 3 centers who need to produce, gutting our d for malkin pretty much guarantees that those 2 firsts are good odds lottery picks. I understand that the cost of malkin would be close to this, i would suggest carolina. Their gm could see malkin as the difference in the middle and roll the dice on the firsts. Sabres lose hard if they do this.

Risto plays half an hour a night for us. Sometimes pretty well. Our right side behind him is bogosian if healthy (ie infrequently), a lefty playing his off side, and an ahl tweener (pick one). Try carolina, we are in no position to move young d, plus several other valuable pieces for a great center on the wrong side of 30.

Not enough for Malkin and too much given away for duchene.
