24 years old, never played in the NHL, what's his upside, especially since the Blues haven't had him with the big club.

I can always count on you palhal to comment and rip apart leafs ideas.

The upside is that he hasn't had a chance to play yet so why not take a shot on him and see. He's a right shot two way d man that the leafs need so we deal from a position of strength(forward depth, bracco can't even get into the marlies lineup) for a young d man who was a firsts round pick

I'm not ripping the trade. But please be accurate, the Blues have had injuries on defence, and Shattenkirk left and this RHD still hasn't found his way in the NHL, so he had the opporuntity to be in the NHL I just question if the is NHL good.
Seems to me, so many Leaf fans see "RHD" and think that any player can lead them to the promise land. RHD? Righteous, Heavenly, Deity.

I'm trying to be realistic. Everyone knows Babcock likes to have leftys and rightys so I'm just looking for what I perceive as cheaper right shot d men that could provide some value. I'm not claiming he's going to save the leafs and be a world beater, I just think their is some value to adding a player like him that is a right shot. From what I've read he's a mobile two way d man who could help on our third pair. Apart from very unique circumstances super talented right shot d men don't become available so I'm trying to find cheaper ones that could have the upside to become something if given a chance. Otherguys I like are Philippe Myers, Collin Miller, Rasmus Andersson and Kyle Wood

Hi Driedger18. There are definite benefits to having 3 or 4 capable RHD. Facts is most players are left handed shots, so your odds are you can't get this balance with competent Dman. I'm disappointed that Carrick seems to have regressed this year another wise maybe it wouldn't be such an issue. Leafs top two picks last summer were RHD so maybe there is hope for the future. But until then....competent RHD are just so hard to find. Actually I'm a RHD. but I haven't had any calls from NHL clubs this year.
