I would do it. Don't think you need to retain any on Russell and would be willing to retain $500m for Risto, or keep the original offer but swap Risto for Montour.

Anthony Cirelli
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>stammerman</b></div><div>Ummm Cirelli has been the 2C for Tampa all year so I don't know how other teams can concentrate on TB top two lines without having to deal with Cirelli. Also if follow the Lighting you would know that Cirelli gets harder defensive match ups against the other teams top lines playing a more two way game, he is already proving himself to be in the yearly Selke talk. Without looking at the stats I am sure he gets more defensive zone starts and of his points they have come with averaging less the 30 seconds on the PP per game. I feel you are grossly undervaluing Cirelli.</div></div>
I meant he faced less defensive players. I know he is a really good defensive center. I didn't get to watch a lot of TB this season, but I saw his most common linemates were Palat, Killorn, Johnson and Stamkos so it appeared they changed things up a bit throughout the season. Also, a PK guy and not much of a PP guy.
Not trying to underappreciate him, but more pointing out that being on a 50 point pace and having 4 guys ahead of him shows that teams have a lot more to defend against than if went to a team with less firepower.

Anthony Cirelli
Tough to say what Cirelli would look like at 2C. 50 pts on TB isn't necessarily a guarantee that he scores that on a team with a lot less firepower than TB. Teams have to concentrate on the top 2 lines with TB which gives Cirelli the less defensive matchups.
I wouldn't give up your future 2C and 3C plus a 2nd for him.

Yeah. All redraft posts are stupid. Could do this for every single team and pick better players.

If Botterill was better
Thomas nor Kyrou were available.
O'Regan had really good AHL stats before we traded for him and was good friends with Jack.
A 3rd for Frolik was worth a shot to fill a void when Sobotka and Tage were injured. Didn't work, no big loss.
A 5th for Simmonds with half his salary retained was a good deal.
We offered a better package for Trocheck, but they wanted a player to play 2C to keep making a run for the playoffs.

He's 100% a shooting winger that doesn't contribute much if he's not shooting the puck.

He did a great job for the players and looked out for their best interests as well as the team. Signing guys for less than market value by guaranteeing them control of their own futures.
They're in this predicament because of Brisebois signing Vasilevskiy and Gourde to their deals.
Let's add this year's 1st from Vancouver (12th overall) and Foote for Blake Coleman.
They're in trouble and it's not because of Yzerman and I would be surprised if any of these guys wouldn't waive to go play for Stevie Y (and sh!thole would be a nice description of Detroit compared to TB).

Reinhart already took two bridge deals. He'll be a UFA no matter how long his next deal is.

This is all fine if all the RFAs are fine taking cheap bridge deals the next two years and they are ok losing Reinhart after the 3 year contract you gave him. Of course this only matters as long as no one hits their bonuses, because that would leave them with even less money available.
Maybe Buffalo can just send Reinhart and Okposo to Dallas for 3 prospects and a 1st.

Perhaps, but turning 36 this summer and coming off his worst season by far in his career and some might disagree. If Calgary needs the assets, then no need to include Lucic. Although Monahan is the best, Buffalo is not in position to give up 4 assets for someone that they hope is their 3C in two years and take on a cap dump.

Maybe Andersen would have a better SV% if he had a better d in front of him? Maybe you should grab Goligoski, I hear he's a pretty good dman. Or are you inferring that Ullmark is better than Andersen? Not sure where you're going with this.
Bottom line is that Dillon would be a better fit for Buffalo (and Toronto) than Goligoski would be. Neither team needs another offensive dman.

Lmfao leafs have better defense than you. Buffalo just overrates all their RH defenseman.
Pilut? Lol ok. You clearly know nothing</div></div>
That's 3 years for $4m which is a raise and what does Winnipeg have to do with anything. With a flat cap not many guys that aren't stars will be getting huge raises.
If Toronto's d is so much better, why did the Leafs give up more goals and their d score less goals than Buffalo? All while having better goaltending.

Let's assume that ROR trade wouldn't have happened. If that was the case, and STL made you the following offer: Faulk+Kyrou+Kostin+1st for ROR+Okposo, would you take it?
BUF got absolutely robbed by STL in the original trade, but it has no merit regarding this deal.</div></div>
Would I take that if I was Buffalo? Hell yeah, because I get to dump a bad contract and and although I'm giving up the best player in the deal, I get 3 players with potential and a 1st.

What is this roster trying to be?</div></div>
The problem is that the previous GM traded away any prospects and a ton of picks to try for a quick rebuild. This left Botts with few assets and bad contracts to try to rebuild from the bottom up using stopgap guys to try to get some sort of pipeline and free up some cap room. All while trying to keep the players from wanting to jettison out of here as soon as they could.

I did read it and just disagree with it. Even if they signed Dillon for 3/$4m it's better than trading for Goligoski. Stick to the Leafs and let them continue to have zero defensive structure. Buffalo could just not trade for Goligoski and play Pilut and be set up better.

Monahan and ROR we can call a wash although I think ROR's game is better all around while Monahan has more offensive upside. Both would be 26 at the time of the deal with ROR coming off a career year and Monahan coming off a low year.
Add in a cap dump in Lucic and I don't see this comparable in too many ways.

Is Goligoski really better? He is 6 years older, and carries a hefty salary while not really being a complementary player to any of our RD. Dillon would be a much better fit and fill a void that this team is lacking, a big physical dman that always sticks up for his teammates.

If we're retaining $2m for Mojo, you need to get more than a 2nd (Boston gave up a 2nd and a 4th just a year ago for him as a rental)
Would rather offer Dillon $4m than trade for Goligoski.

Alright, didn't want to quote the whole thing, but this whole post looks like Tim Murray was rehired with his quick fix plan to just make the playoffs and have no plans for the future. That's of course leaving out that he got an actual starting goalie and first line winger without taking a bad cap dump. This trade is actually worse than the ROR trade to St Louis.

I like Monahan and have had proposals with him and Buffalo with Reinhart included, and may have undervalued a bit, but Lucic has such a negative value that it isn't worth it for Buffalo to give up 4 assets and take on a cap dump for someone to play 2C.
