Scandella actually works pretty well as a cap move in a trade because his buyout after this season is really good. But I'd suspect it would cost an extra later round pick in any trade.

is Binnington still good anymore
I'm honestly not sure lol but I'm not totally sold on this team as constructed either. They can get hot and then just look like straight garbage. I think if there's a chance to get out of his contract you take it. Husso is good and we've got some other good goalies in the system. Find a taker for Scandella, make a trade for a legit top pairing D man. Target Mattew Tkachuk heavily, if he is intent on becoming a free agent, even better. But start clearing the space while still improving, Kyrou and Thomas raises are right around the corner too.

Not unrealistic in the slightest. I'm sure he could be had at the right place. I like him, he would be a great fit.

Blues off-season
So O'Reilly, Tarasenko, Thomas, Barbashev and Kyrous contracts all expire the next season and we use more of our limited cap space to sign Chiarot to a bad one. It's Scandella signing 2.0

Arizona Deadline
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>suburbanrobot</b></div><div>I'm not 100% sure the market for Chychrun is as strong as people on this site believe. He's had an abysmal season (understanding his last two were very strong) so the huge ask that's gone around for "Eichel like return" seems unrealistic. Sure AZ could just hold on to him and if that remains the ask I think that is the most likely outcome because I don't know that any of the teams that have been mentioned as vying for his services are going to pay that price.</div></div>
He's actually been pretty bad. People can say the teams bad all they want, but if you've watched the games, you know his individual defensive play has been pretty bad.

If Arizona is intent on being bad for the next couple years, taking Scandella back in the trade is a no brainer lol. If that extra piece is necessary, I'd personally swap Kostin out for a younger, different mid tier prospect. Blues can use him as a solid depth piece for playoffs.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Wadejos123</b></div><div>why would lindholm be available? Ducks are making the playoffs</div></div>
Because their starting to and will continue to fall back to earth and will want to get something for Lindholm, also letting Lindholm go to a team he can make a run at the cup with. They can also take whatever package they get and add it to a Chychrun deal if they want. Highly doubt Ducks are making the playoffs.

Moving Sundqvist here works from a cap perspective but he's only got 2 years on his contract, not sure that's the kind of player/contract Arz wants and Sunny helps us in a run.

If Arz is getting Neighbours, either Perunovich or Hofer is out for maybe Dickinson or another mid tier prospect. If it's Bolduc instead of Neighbours the rest of the package works with me.

What a terrible trade for the Blues. Gio is not good enough anymore to justify anywhere near that return as a rental. Might as well add another piece or two for Chychrun or give this same offer to Anaheim for Lindholm lol

He's not quite what he was a few years back, while Krug and Faulk have picked up their games. ANd sheesh, if Colt could stop losing the puck in his skates for no reason, he's a legit 1st pairing guy.
Of course, getting Lindholm and Parayko together would probably lift both of them quite a bit. If the extension is more like 4 years and not 6-7, I'd be down. Just not for as much in this trade idea. Take Kostin out and I'd say okay.</div></div>
Agree. Kostin is a solid depth piece to keep around for a run. Send out a younger mid tier prospect or something if you want, but Kostin is finally nhl ready and starting to put it together. Need his meanness come playoff time. I'm on the trade for Lindholm train myself, think of the options available he's the best fit for Parayko.

Thats a you problem, not every other teams problem. If you need the cap space, you put Scandella on waivers (or trade him seperatly) but thats STL work to do, not Anaheims.
If Scandella was a pending UFA this year, fine but hes got two more years after this season. No team is taking on 6.5M dollars just to help you out with a trade where they are giving you the best player in the trade along with almost 50% retention on said player.</div></div>
I've done this too. Not because I think said team would actually take Scandella, but just because I'm lazy and know if that's the hold up, there's def a way to move his cap hit and just don't feel like ironing that out on here lol.

Ben Chiarot
These are all TERRIBLE! huge over pays in every one and the only player of interest in any of these is Mayfield, but that is too much. Parise is old and washed. Chiarot is actually not good at defense, slow, old legs that takes way too many penalties because he can't keep up and is terrible at moving the puck out. He's Scandella 2.0 but less disciplined.

Yes and we can move him in the off season maybe. For a playoff run though, he's a solid depth piece to keep around.

No we're not trading solid roster players. They want futures, Barbashev has 2 years on his contract, as good as he is, he's not the kind of piece Arizona is looking for in a deal anyway.

Rather hold onto Kostin, he's solid depth piece for a playoff run rn. Scotty, Hofer, Bolduc, 1st.

Chara is washed, Gio has a big cap hit and not sure what the ask is but porbably just not worth it, another pair of old legs. Might as well stick with what we've got and save the head ache if that's all we could get. If Anaheim decides to deal Lindholm, he's the guy they need to go after. He'd be a perfect fit. If not, make the deal work for Chychrun. No Chiarot either, been watching alot of Montreals games and individually hes been terrible, cant keep up and takes so many bad penalties because of it, would be another Scandella pick up.

I think that's about what it would cost and love the idea of getting Chychrun. The 3rd is probably unnecessary, other than that I'd do it. My biggest question mark about bringing in Chychrun is making the cap work. Even if we can move Scandella which I'm pretty sure he has a no trade and doubt he'd go to Arizona, we still don't have enough cap space for a 23 man roster. How would that shake out?
