Me too. Even if Landy comes back you can always move guys like Manson for a cheaper D to make some extra room, his NTC converts to a 12 team no trade list in June 2024

Toss in the lower of the 2023 7th and you have a deal.
I think try to push for Dumo to take 2.5-3 for 2 years, play POJ and bench Ruhwedel, need POJ to continue to take steps as a player. You can't bury Carter as he has a NMC, a Granlund buyout seems the best way to clear out additional cap to buy a new 3rd line player in FA.
As to the offer sheet, send it. The Pens don't have anything in the system that is really at risk of being counter OS'd, by the time they do, Pitt and NYR will both be on new GMs and the feud will likely die without any consequence.

^ this.
Our biggest need is better play in net. Confidence in Blackwood is very, very low. And he probably has shortest leash in NHL as his Devils career is in borrowed time.

I say they are one top d pair left d man and one top 6 winger away from being a true contender. Add a top pair left d and graves and sieg move down one slot and same for a 1st or 2nd line winger and this team would be a problem.
They have some very nice d prospects as well. They are in a great spot.</div></div>

Definitely. Hence why I said they have some nice D prospects. But I believe Hughes is going to college this year. So he is not relevant this year (Maybe for the end of the season though).
Holtz has a good shot at making the team.
I was just specifically talking about being competitive this year and what they would need to add. They should only do it if it makes sense though. Otherwise hold pat. They are in a great spot.

Bring back Kadri
I kinda like this deal, maybe would try and reduce the 2nd rounder to a lower pick, but I like this. EJ is a guy that I liked with the avs, and during the playoffs esp and he could hold a place in the top 4 for a season while JBD and Thomson grow, and in the process we get a 1st rounder and a prospect that we could use in a trade or keep

Realistic Summer
It’s not realistic that Isles will retain 2.5M and get scraps back for a very good goalie in Varlamov lol, come on.
Buffalo will definitely want more for taking Mrázek’s contract too. As a UFA Burakovsky will get more term and probably more money.

pretty realistic idea of what we could look like next season: a team that could potentially make the playoffs but that's pretty much it.

Youth Movement
Harley, Tufte and Damiani have a combined 51 NHL games and Harley has 34 of those. I wouldn't consider anyone a roster players unless they have at least a full season under the belt. Gonna have to make that conditional 2nd a first, maybe add a second rounder or two as well.

if the Oilers need other teams to retain, its not happening. Boston maybe straight up might work but they wont retain. The Gibson trade is hilarious because that doesnt get you Gibson straight up.. Then you have them retain half his salary for 5 more years. NO team would ever retain for 5 years.. this just isnt possible

That gets you a game used Jock strap from Gibson
Doesnt even cover one season of that much retention for him to play on a division rival
one of the worst Gibson "offers" ive seen on here

It's the 33rd overall pick and it's the very first pick to kick off Day 2 for the upcoming draft.
And Ottawa is getting an immediate replacement for Brannstrom.
My benchmark for accepting any trade for Brannstrom is what Carolina got for Jake Bean.
https://www.capfriendly.com/trades/players/jake-bean
This trade exceeds that benchmark.
We need to accept.

Wood alone would not command a large trade price because he was out last season after hip surgery.
He came back for a few games, but not enough for us to expect 100 cents on the dollar.
But I think NJD keeps him for another year, even if it walks him to his UFA year, and go from there.
He is important to our lineup and we don't really need another mid-round pick.
