Rare high-effort AGM.
I do think that if we're abandoning ship, there'd be no reason to make trades just for the sake of making trades, we should be trading players with actual value for futures.
The Hayes trade makes very little sense for both teams and is unrealistic due to Hayes' contract, but for the flyers why would they want to trade Hayes if they're abandoning ship? His 7m would help hit the cap floor given we actually abandon ship and he's a great leader/locker room guy for the young players.
A Laughton trade is also questionable due to the leadership he provides along with how undesirable he is (I'd want him as I think he's very underrated but I don't think any GM of another team would say the same). Same type of situation as with Hayes.
I think it'd make a lot more sense to trade guys like Konecny and Provorov. Although they're young enough to stick around through a rebuild, they carry high values and can net a 1st+ return each. Trading them would also help us stay near the bottom of the league for the sake of good draft picks and also allow us to take on bad contracts for more forward-looking assets.

Zero chance on the Pens trade. We are 1.4 over the cap already, and have 8 NHL Dmen plus Ty Smith. No money, no need and no more trading firsts...JR is gone.

The Boston trade makes no sense.
How is Boston adding just under $4.5 million in cap space to their current roster?
Why would Boston help PHI get out from Hayes overpriced contract? Is their incentive the guy who you deemed "will NOT pan out" in your description? Doesn't seem like an enticing deal for Boston.

Columbus needs the cap flexibility that Nyquist brings being a pending UFA so they can afford to keep players like chinakov, Gavrikov, Peeke and Texier who all need new contracts next offseason as well all of them will get paid more, some significantly more.
I’d also say they probably want the roster spot in the top 6 so players like Johnson, Marchenko, Chinakov can get some time playing that high in the line up.
Love Atkinson, and if he was a 1 year deal I’d 100% make that trade, but not with him being 3 years left. Columbus will need the cap room and the roster spot.

Scott Laughton is a 3mil 4th liner in Ottawa. He's not worth a 2nd to them and he's not a good use of that cap space which they will need next year.

Jackets don’t have the cap space for cam let alone adding to Gus. If he wants to take a cheap deal to come to Columbus after his deal expires I would be fine with that

Oh man I knew that Giroux was knee capping them by only waiving for FLA but this is a terrible return. Tip doesn't look good and getting a 1st in 3 years time rather than Mackie is just awful. Fletcher might be the worst GM in the league right now.

A second-rounder has a less than 14% chance of playing 100 or more games in the NHL. This could easily be 60th or higher, so that's probably 10% chance. The third rounded could be nearly 100th overall and the seventh rounder will likely never play in the AHL.

I agree this trade won’t happen. I never really considered G to Minny bc I didn’t think they were legit contenders. But they have the Cap and they have the assets for the Flyers to retool.
3 1sts for the Wild is pretty steep, especially when there is a serious question if they can win w/ their goaltending situation. But this franchise is going to be in cap trouble for the next 2-3 years so going all in this year might be their best shot. But again for 3 firsts and Kulikov that is prob too much. Maybe 2 1sts and a 2nd though? The framework for a deal seems logical in Minnesota, but I doubt Giroux will waive his NMC for Minny, just not a strong enough contender.
Morin was just a contract for Minny to eat. Considering they’re getting two premium players, they can eat having Morins contract in their organization.</div></div>
1) Giroux has already stated that he'd be open to being moved to Colorado, preferably, but otherwise either Minnesota or St. Louis.
2) The asking price for Giroux, <strong><em>WHO IS A RENTAL</em></strong>. Is a 1st, a prospect, and a young NHL player.
Note that it doesn't stipulate that prospect needs to be a top prospect coming back. Just a prospect. Same for the young NHL player.
Here's my counter offer.
Connor Dewar (22 yo)... young NHL player.
Daemon Hunt (B+ Prospect), 2nd pairing potential... can play boths sides.

Drop everything else.
A rental, no matter how good, isn’t getting either Rossi or Lambos. Not going to happen.

seriously? I take that in a heartbeat. Nurse isn't defensively as good as Provorov for sure, but he'll eat plenty of minutes. Add a bottom 6 in Foegele PLUS 2 1st's and a 2nd? Most definitely. We can find a more defensive capable d-man to pair with Nurse afterwards with all of that capitol coming our way,
