need a scorer to replace Kane. More physical than Kane. No kids ready for top 6 besides Bergren

Hard to see Mo Seider getting half a million less than Jake Sanderson.
I don't think Stevie has it in his bones to pay someone (especially a second) to take Justin Holl off his hands. After all, Stevie signed him to that contract.</div></div>
Hoping Roy (a Detroit native) takes a discount to play at home. Seider is a bridge deal so lower than the 8.5x8. I think Holl's a goner

Fabbri will get you 15-20 goals. Agree Petry might say no but then stays as 8th defenseman. And eliminate pick. Just future considerations.

I'd be interested in what a Lightning fan thinks the cap relief plan for them is. Negative $3,516,666 in cap space with 6 players to sign including backup goalie, a couple of good young RFA's, and if they want to keep Savard as a UFA. Honestly, how do you think they are planning to go forward while keeping the core (Kucherov, Stamkos, Point, Cirelli, Cernak, Sergachev, Hedman, and Vasilevsky) surrounded with adequate complimentary players?

Cap space is there for a larger contract. 1st rounder in 2023 could be added. And Werenski will leave Columbus when contract is up (haven't you heard Larkin and Werenski are best buds) like Panarin, Piere Luc, Bobrovsky, and probably Laine. It seems stars dont like playing in Columbus. So why not Detroit on the upswing?

Never been a DET fan...but really prefer an NHL without the vagabond, destitute version of the Red Wings.</div></div>
unfortunately that is where we are till the farm system (which is looking good) comes through. I estimate 2-3 more years before playoff caliber

assuming that the hockey gods are fair and that redwings falling 9 spots in last 3 drafts will balance out. Always a crapshoot.

That's also pretty low for Bertuzzi. Werenski probably gets a bigger contract as well</div></div>
Note $17,000,000 still in cap space so plenty of room to up dollars in contracts if needed

most likely
Ideal scenario. Trade deadline is so dependent on contenders needs and don't think they would all be moved. I'd be happy with 2 or 3. Veleno will eventually be a 2 0r 3C IMO but Blashill will start him lower. I'd like to see Svech play with Namestnikov for russian comfort. I hope Ras cracks the line-up but Gagner or Fil can play 3C if he can't.

St. Louis is my blast from the past. Graduated from Pharmacy School there during Gary Unger, Plager brothers days. My favorite team in the West but moved to Detroit and became Wings fan when Yzerman drafted in 83.

Fabbri was a center until injuries hit. I think juries out on that. Read he wants to play center again. Why not do a 1 year experiment?

Small moves and UFA rebuild
Krug (Detroit boy) depends on Boston's cap situation. If we pay, he might play if he thinks we will be competitive a year or two into his contract. He's young enough that he doesn't need a win now team. Lehner just wants to be paid and some contract length for stability. Also young enough that if he thinks we will be competitive a year or two into his contract, he might come. Draft lottery assumes we get #2 or #3. Byfield MIGHT ne ready, but he starts in GR unless he can make the team as 2C. I wouldn't play him in the bottom 6.

I agree if Mantha and Bertuzzi sign longer they will probably get more and I do see Veleno as future 2C just not sure if he is ready yet.
