Solid AGM

I hope Seattle takes Stecher or Namestnikov since they only have 1 year until UFA but I could see Svechnikov being taken.

That Tampa trade would be nice but I doubt Tampa does it.

You say you'd trade anyone but Larkin, Vrana, Zadina, Seider, Hronek. I mostly agree with that except for I'd trade Zadina before I would trade Raymond. I think Raymond has a higher ceiling.

I'd sign Bertuzzi for less and Hronek for a little more. Vrana put up a lot of points for the Wings and is the most talented player on the team I think he deserves ~6m+

Also why are you buying out Nielsen. You have the cap space just bench/waive him. Why carry a cap penalty in the future when you don't have to

Exactly.

I don't think this team is quite ready to compete so I think this year is time to try to really see who you want long run.

I wouldn't resign a single of the UFAs. Maybe Bernier if there is not other goalie option, but ideally you find a way to try to get a goalie for the future

Otherwise the vets to fill out the roster I'd target would be a mix of salary dumps and guys wanting 1 year prove it contracts who you could hopefully flip at the deadline.

Thier maybe a couple mid tier ufas I wouldn't mind them signing with some term. Plus the expansion draft is an opourtunity. I just dont want then to do nothing and just wait another season for the kids to get older. I want them to be alittle active.

What is M NTC Killorn's motivation to list Detroit as a team to be traded to? Same might even apply to Johnson.

As a life long Leafs fan they've done a lot of dumb things over the years, but the way we picked up low cost high upside/easy to trade UFAs on our rebuilding years early in the Babcock era was fairly well done.

Aim for guys like Namestnikov last year. Low enough cost that if they totally bomb, whatever. If they do great (unlikely) they turn into part of your core. Most likely they do okay, act as vets for a bit, mentor a bit, and you flip 'em for some more mid picks at tdl while your kids get some more development.

Only Ufas you consider bigger money to should be those rare 26 years olds as they still have some years left. Avoid giving big money to 29/30 year olds. Team isn't ready yet.

Seems like a plan is in place. I'm not afraid of Detroit this year, but I think a core is coming

I'd be interested in what a Lightning fan thinks the cap relief plan for them is. Negative $3,516,666 in cap space with 6 players to sign including backup goalie, a couple of good young RFA's, and if they want to keep Savard as a UFA. Honestly, how do you think they are planning to go forward while keeping the core (Kucherov, Stamkos, Point, Cirelli, Cernak, Sergachev, Hedman, and Vasilevsky) surrounded with adequate complimentary players?

They convince Seattle to take McDonagh probably Joseph and a 1maybe a 5 also. If you can't trade Johnson to Seattle 20 team trade list almost certain Seattle will be on it. Find a taker for Palat or Killorn or Gourde and bring up the kids. Savard was a rental unless he just falls in love with the area and takes a massive discount.
