Shoring up RHD
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jonh514</b></div><div>Edit: and if they send a few players to the AHL who are not in the starting lineup anyway... They can afford this deal.</div></div>
They really can't - this deal has them acquiring about $3.66M in cap (Dvorak's $4.45M - Peeke's $787K), and CF has them with $416K in cap space available right now with 26 players at the NHL level. You can obviously put Daniil Tarasov($1.05M) in the AHL as a 3rd, AHL-ready goalie; and presumably two of their ELC forwards (Chinhakov/Johnson?) would go down to the AHL too. ($925K/$925K). You've only cleared $2.9M there, meaning they either have to put down a waivers-eligible player and risk losing them (Eric Robinson's $1.6M strikes me as the most likely candidate) or run a 22-man roster (less than ideal!) Dvorak's just not that good enough of a player, to me, to force myself to do this much roster gymnastics to accommodate (while also weakening my RD depth chart to boot!)
Beyond that, center is actually a position where CBJ has strong depth - Cole Sillinger just put up decent NHL numbers as an 18 year old, Jack Roslovic is a great bonus from the Dubois-Laine trade, Boone Jenner is a team leader with 4 years left on his deal (at a lower cap hit than Dvorak, too!) and Sean Kuraly does all the defensive/PK stuff Dvorak would bring for half the cost. It's just not a position that CBJ needs to devote more assets to right now, IMO.

Either that should cost a lot more, or TOR is much more desperate to move Tavares than I imagined.
That's before we get to the NTC.

Opening Night If Roster Stays as Is
This team won't have any trouble scoring goals, that's for sure, but I don't have much faith in the defense or even really Elvis on preventing them. I'd rather be entertained by high-scoring games than boring low-event hockey, though. Can't wait to see how it all shakes out bwtween Traverse City for the kids, training camp, and the first few weeks of the season. The roles will probably be wildly different than what we expect.

Yeah this is pretty much how I see it all playing out too. I had marchenko on PP2 where Cole is and I had Gudbranson and Peeke swapped cause I cant see Jarmo paying Gudbranson 4 mil to play 3rd pair but if he does I see the defensive pairs playing similar TOIs so we dont run Zach down and get him injured like last year. Really like the team tbh and feel like we can surprise especially with Marcheko coming in and people don't know how good he is and we have great depth and physicality now. Should be a fun season.

Yeah Marchenko said he'd like to play LW and Gus can play either side so should be an easy fit.

I kinda think Marchanko might get PP1 time over Voracek. They need someone to fill in the high slot where Bjorkstrand was. Marchenko seems like their strongest RH shot to take passes off the RW boards from what I assume will be Gaudreau running the PP.

If he excels in camp and pre-season with his shot I don't see how he DOESN'T get a shot on PP1, if not then he'll be PP2 probs at the very worst. I'm really excited to see him playing, Calder here he comes

Plus 1.85M for the ELC's, and 1M for cap increase:
Vrana gets ~6-7M, the other two, depending on term and how they do get around 9M each, Seider probably more than Raymond, either way there's enough cap space here, especially if Larkin and Bertuzzi take cheap-ish deals, to go around.

could probs keep peeke for cheap, like a 2-3yrs x 2-2.5 mil. Gavi probs would want a long term contract at 4.5-5mil

Updated Anderson trades
In 2021 Marchenko's NHLe for the KHL was 43 and even then he wasn't being given deserved minutes because he was planning on leaving for the NHL. Just stop wasting your time with this delusional habs fan.
Marchenko has been widely regarded as one of the top players outside of the NHL for quite some time.
Here (Jan 2022) he's ranked the 56th best U23 player. Just behind Sillinger and Johnson and just ahead of players like Alexander Holtz, Alex Newhook, Vasili Podkolzin, Cole Caufield.
https://theathletic.com/3060357/2022/01/12/ranking-the-best-under-23-nhl-players-who-tops-the-list-andrei-svechnikov-or-jack-hughes/
Here (Oct 2020) he's ranked the 69th best U23 players. Holtz, Caufield and Podkolzin were ahead of him then but behind him in this ranking are Matthew Boldy, Filip Zadina, Seth Jarvis, Jesper Bratt.
https://theathletic.com/2132927/2020/10/22/ranking-the-best-nhl-players-under-23-corey-pronmans-top-155/\
Here's a redraft that would have put him 14th, it's really disingenuous to regard him as anything but an excellent prospect.
https://nhlentrydraft.com/news/redrafting-the-2018-nhl-draft/
He's worth more than Josh Anderson and y'all can really cut it out with the 12th. It makes no sense to anyone who knows about CBJ.
