Philadelphia Flyers signed Ivan Fedotov (2 Years / $3,275,000 AAV)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>A_Habs_fan</b></div><div>He's played 3 NHL games and has a .811 in them, what???</div></div>
From Anthony DiMarco :
<em>I know the Fedotov AAV is higher than expected, but the contract was agreed upon prior to the player coming over from Russia.
I'm told that the contract had to be a certain number to get Fedotov to come to North America.
Not ideal, but understandable given the circumstances.</em>

Wallstedt isn't ready yet and lets be honest, Flower is a GREAT veteran backup with leadership.

Thread:
Vegas Golden Knights signed Noah Hanifin (8 Years / $7,350,000 AAV)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Random2152</b></div><div>This contract is a pretty good example on how tax advantage is much smaller than most people think given his offer in CGY was for 7.5. Like yeah it totally exists but it isnt really anything to get antsy about and claim it to be a massive factor. 0.15M is roughly the gap.</div></div>
This doesn't make sense. The tax advantage is substantial and much more than $150k.
The difference for Hanifin each year making $7.35M in Vegas vs. Calgary is $640k take home:
Vegas (taxed at 38.9% from https://www.talent.com/tax-calculator?salary=7350000&from=year&region=Nevada): $7.35M -> $4.49M take home
Calgary (taxed at 47.6% from https://ca.talent.com/tax-calculator?salary=7350000&from=year&region=Alberta): $7.35M -> $3.85M take home
If Hanafin stays all 8 years in Vegas, the total take home difference between signing in Vegas vs. Calgary is $5.12M. This would mean Hanafin would have to play over 9 years in Calgary to take home the same earnings as he does in 8 years in Vegas.

Toughen up some
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Beargold</b></div><div>I do think Chabot could return a 1st, but with his injury history and high cap hit it isn't very likely. He would be out 1LD if he were consistently healthy. He is a better offensive D-man than Chychrun, and more reliable le defensively, and since it seems a relative consensus that Chych could get a 1st it stands to reason Chabot could too. The injury part, matched with his cap, does make it difficult to really get others on board though since the best asset is availability. Luckily a lot of Chabot's injuries seem to have been breaks rather than things that could be long-term (looking at you, Norris) so hopefully he'll bounce back next year and re-establish himself as one of the better puck moving defencemen. As for trading him, I hope they don't; I'd prefer him over Chych any day of the week.
What do you mean they play in a barn? Did they renovate the CTC since I was last there, or am I missing something? It isn't an amazing stadium, but honestly felt no different from the other ones I've been to.</div></div>
Reasonable response; Chabot’s contract (aav & term) absolutely prevents a 1st.
And full disclosure - I dislike everything SENs related so hard for me to be objective in anyway. Luckily the team is not good and don’t look to be for a while - so they’re not a big concern.
I think the arena is garbage - mostly due to its onerous location but it is also 30 years old and showing its age. Just my opinion

no prospect i worth a top 10 pick because VERY few p[layers in the NHL are themselves worth a top 10 pick.</div></div>

Bonk is not worth a top 10 pick, NO PROSPECT is worth a top 10 pick because THEY ARE PROSPECTS, they have not played a single game in the NHL and potential is meaningless in this discussion.
Norris is going nowhere, is he is healthy he plays if he is injured he is LTIR.</div></div>
I'm very confused myself. So no prospect is worth a top 10 draft pick...but top 10 draft picks are worth more than prospects?

He is incredibly similar to Drake Batherson, who admittedly I would also probably not trade for Joseph and a 20ish 1st round pick; but i also recognize he has nowhere near the value of a an upside #1C or a top 10 pick +

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Caniac2000</b></div><div>As I said, the most realistic way Necas ends up in Ottawa is in a package for Stutzle. Nothing else you have interests a buying team. Mathieu Joseph is mediocre and overpaid. The 1st is going to be late. From a futures perspective, I don't think it's unreasonable to say both Pinto and the OTTAWA 1st in 2024 would have to be on the table to even open a conversation. A bottom six winger and a late 1st isn't getting a dude coming off a 70 point season, whose going to reach 60-65 again this year</div></div>
yeah thats just not going to happen. I dont think Necas is the piece that'll be leaving Carolina either, but those are huge over-valuations of his value imo.

I think at some point you need to keep the younger guys on the shorter deals so they continue to try and earn it on a nighly basis. Sanderson and Stutzle at 8x8 should give more than enough surplus value to build around that, not sure we need pinto in the same boat. Complacency has been a huge issue for us this year.

Yeah 4 lines deep, 3 pairs deep and 3 goalie system. Defensively a much better team too.
And the picks will improve the prospect pool
