Canucks decline. Our wingers next year will be Kuzmenko/Beauvillier/Mikheyev/Boeser/Kravtsov/Garland/Joshua/Podkolzin plus Di Giuseppe/Hoglander as depth, Armia would be a $1.7 mil AHLer. Just don't have the cap space or roster space for him, though I think someone else could probably have interest in Armia 50% retained.

No, because his metrics are very bad.

Edmundson won't make Buffalo's roster so that doesn't really work for them.
I also think that price is more than he's worth personally.

The Buffalo Sabres need a young, righty defenseman who can play top four minutes. Edmundson doesn’t fit their timeline, isn’t a righty, and can’t play top four minutes.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BennyBoy91</b></div><div>I understand, but for now, maybe next year the young guys will be able to play on there own, but for now, Savard and Matheson are playing important minutes and they are mentors to these young guys. I think that KH dont want to trade them, but if the offers is ridiculous, maybe he'll pull the trigger. Anybody can be trade for a price. I feel that both guys will be traded before their contract expired, but for now I keep them. But who knows</div></div>
I think by default Eddy is back next season and if you add Guhle, Harris, Xhekaj... Plus some kids in Laval like Trudeau, Beaudoin, Schueneman who deserve a shot... It would actually help us to move Matheson. Too many bodies is not good. We saw it at forward this season. Players crumble under the pressure more often than not.

This is just such a weird trade. Value wise I think the Sens win, but it’s just a little weird to see them dump salary when they’re not in place to make the playoffs.

Not sure this makes any sense at all for NJ. Would make sense to just keep a healthy AJ for depth since they still have the space for moves without dumping hi separately rn

Right, so we helping them at a major discount only to improve their team and downgrade the position of the unprotected 1st WE OWN, makes too much sense ... not

We also have to get the league to agree to appeal the status of Logan Mailloux. We have enough "players under league scrutiny" under team control already. I think it's just not a good fit for those reasons. Respect to Kassian, but let him go play somewhere else.</div></div>
Fair commentary.
Simply looking at the construct, this really does work getting the Habs some positive assets. If it isn't Kassian, it could be someone else.....

Kassian is a different person since his first go around in a Habs jersey. Frankly, this deal makes sense. Hughes gets out of a bad contract a year early, Yotes get picks and an extra year of Armia, who is similar.to Kassian.
That New Jersey deal is a beautiful example of how the Habs can weaponize cap space at the deadline. It works, and it is something the Devils may entertain......
The Dallas deal has some merit as well. I beleive asking for a 1st there maybe too much, but again, weaponizing cap space. Monahan has found a way to.postive value, Dadanov has not. Think that 1st should be a 2nd...... Dadanov just doesn't have the value over Gurianov.
Overall...... may not be a Habs fan, but the way this ACGM works the cap is brilliant. Does it happen? Maybe not. But this is one of the best thought processes involving the Habs I have seen in months.</div></div>
