I'm a Habs fan and I think that's a tall ask.

It's pretty much the starting point for top 6 forwards and top 4 D men at the deadline especially with retention

CBJ would take that. Issue right now is Elvis needing a bounce back, and that is before getting to whatever this injury is he just got.

In other words, CBJ may be in desperate enough need for Gs that we just can’t trade him.

Yeah good luck with that.

Habs can sit at that ask and wait. Worst case they dont move monahan and still landed a first.

I agree this offer is light imo but a 1st + prospect is also a reach. Monahan 50% at the deadline should return a 1st I feel, that would be decent.

Lehky got a 1st + 3rd, Monahan is a better all round player he should get at the very least what Lehky got.

Time will tell, you may be right. It's going to depend on availability/options and team desperation around the TDL as long as his play keeps up and he stays healthy. Either way I'm pretty excited.

I mean it is possible that this team continues to surprise and maybe we don't sell at the TDL ...

Different draft class and better players will be on the market this year. Have a hard time seeing monahan getting a first this year. Horvat, kane, klingberg, toews are all guys probably worth more that will get first rounders so there’s not many other firsts out there available

I agree there could be but I don't believe Horvat will be moved (the price would be too high at the deadline) not a lot of teams will have 5+ mil to add either Kane, Toews or Klingberg (not saying they won't be moved just that cap space is scarce)

Why are the Wild buying at the deadline? This doesn't look like a team that will be a buyer.

I think value wise he's maybe not far off but the last thing the habs need is a 5'9 center, we have plenty of this type of prospects and they're all better than him

AL was younger and importantly had an extra year of control. He also had a good resume, and reliability. Monahan is playing alright, but it’s not 2018, I just don’t think he has near the value that these ACGMs wants to prescribe him.

It’s also going to depend on what the market is come TDL. Assuming he can stay healthy and keep his production up (again, four years of damaged and declining play has taught me to be skeptical), he might fetch something; but a 1st+ feels like a huge ask for Monahan.
