Remember when no one wanted Miller
Miller wasn't the Canuck most disparaged by outsiders -- Boeser was regarded as a cap dump.

All the Nylander doubters
I'm expecting it's a flash in the pan, but man is he fun to watch right now. Good for him, if they have chemistry and can keep it up, that 3rd line could be dangerous for a long time. Sillinger has been incredible lately too, and if Texier is finally putting it together with Silly and Nylander as linemates, that's good all-around.

If you ask me, he’ll be in the KHL sooner than later. He may play out this contract because $7.8 million is hard to walk away from, but I wouldn’t necessarily be surprised if he’s done in the show. Best of luck to him.

Pens fans will complain because the trade isn't for a superstar instead of actually judging the trade as is. It's a fine trade

Terrible trade by Dubas. AHL player for AHL player and still ends up giving a pick lol

I like this trade. Obviously it's pretty minor but Nylander hasnt worked here and I think Bemstrom has upside to be a decent 3rd line guy for us.

Turn this thing around
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BestGMBenning</b></div><div>I think the teams defence is okay enough. Would be nice to get another shutdown guy in there. But the goaltending has been insane this year.</div></div>
I would agree it's good enough as well. I'm not saying it's terrible. Just that the goaltending makes the defense look a lot better than it actually is in terms of goals against. I think we all agree that the PP is really THE thing that's costing this team. A league average PP and they're most likely in 2nd place and we aren't having any of these difficult conversations haha.

It's definitely an interesting team when you look at the difference in expected and actual numbers per 60.
xGF: 3rd
Actual GF: 11
xGA: 19th
Actual GA: 7
It's a good offensive team with terrible finishing. And a below average defensive team with great goaltending.

Everytime we have expectations for you guys, you suddenly forget how to play the game but everytime we don’t have expectations for you, you suddenly realize your potential.

Puustinen must stay

I firmly believe that Puustinen needs to stay in the top 6 to be most successful. He moves the puck too well at the NHL pace to not be facilitating Malkin. Putting him with Eller and the forechecking DOC would be a disservice to the smaller Puustinen’s play style. When everyone’s healthy, I say move Rakell to the third line and run three very solid lines.

Puustinen must stay
I’m so glad that we finally gave him a shot. I’ve been following him since he played in SM-liiga and have been calling for him to get his chance for a while now. He sees the game very well, is not phased by the NHL pace, and, importantly for a smaller player, he is positionally sound. Watching him move into the right spots in both the offensive and defensive zone has been awesome to see.

Agreed. Even when Rust and Rakell come back and we wanna keep those guys in the top 6, Puustinen should at least be on the 3rd line. Offensively, he definitely brings more than any of DOC, Zohorna, Harkins, etc.

Dubas better do something
Not sure what Dubas can really do - other than firing coaches? His job is putting together the roster, and like you said the names on that PP are amazing. So their terrible performance isn't on him. That's on coaching and player execution.
I agree Sully isn't a huge problem, but he's still the head coach - so the PP being terrible still falls on him. It's like a Tomlin/Canada situation. Sure the head coach might not directly be in charge of the PP, but he is in charge of the guy that is - so it still falls back on him. Sully isn't THE problem by any means, but he shouldn't get a free pass.
