Sabres need to make a move

Making the playoffs would be huge for fan base and team growth. Having these young players get playoff experience now without any pressure will help them next year. Also the Arizona trade helps now and future. Both players are signed for multiple years and fit core age group.

I believe my offer is more than the one I suggested. Two former first round picks. 3c on pace for 50 points. And first round pick. I highly doubt any team is able or willing to offer more than that.

Sabres need to make playoffs
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Buffalove</b></div><div>For the record, it’s NOT Buffalo fans trying to get Demko
There’s literally dozens of posts from VAN fans trying to dump him to us for ridiculous returns
My favorite was a deal that had u guys getting 7 pieces back for him- yes, SEVEN
And those included: Savoie, Levi, and TWO 1sts
I’m sure u can see how laughable something like that is
And maybe now u can understand why BigDog91 made this post to show what kind of price we might actually be willing to give for Demko at the moment- which is exactly why VAN won’t trade him right now
No reason to “sell low” on him either
Maybe at next deadline if he gets healthy & has a rebound season where he plays well
Then u guys could get a decent return for him that just won’t happen right now</div></div>
I agree with everything. It has been getting little ridiculous with the offers.

For goalies I believe it does. He has to prove he can be a top goalie again before someone will be willing to trade top assets for him. Only handful of goalies are good for multiple years.

That is scary top 9. And benning will be fine. Maybe joker can pick up his play and take that spot.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TJTwolf</b></div><div>Not the worst offer I've seen on here for Girard BUT the problem is the Avs likely want a C back in any deal.</div></div>

I think Colorado would need to have some other trades lined up if they were to do this. Lyubushkin isn't a fit, and I don't think Olofsson is either. But if they get futures instead that they can used to acquire say Toews and Mikkola then maybe.
A that said, Girard is important to the Avs. Maybe something to revisit in the off season.</div></div>
Sabres can switch olfo with mitts. He is center and playing a lot better right now. He would be great 3c for you guys.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OldNYIfan</b></div><div>These are some nice moves, and well-valued in my opinion (although, like Buff36, I think you might be light on the Chicago offer -- but you have additional expendable assets to make up the difference). The resulting team is a very good one and would have a bright future. The key, of course, is whether you'd be able to get Meier to re-up.</div></div>
I believe sabres are one of the few teams that can afford him and pretty easy to see this team is going to be dangerous team for along time. If we cant resign him we can trade him at next year deadline. With this team his points should take a bump up and should get most of the assets back.

This is prolly true. But these guys need playoff experience. Also all the addition will be resigned. So, it is not like this all or nothing. They can all grow together. Also sabres have alot prospects and young roster players. We will have to trade some of them because they all cant make the roster.

Sabres have the best prospect pool in nhl. You will not be getting any of devils top prospects. Also devils and Sabres 1st round pick will be about 10 spot difference.

Only way Sabres make this trade is to flip him and retain salary for better return.
Sabres already have a younger version on the team. We also have promising top end second pair guy. We need shutdown dman to pair with power.

Olofsson has more goals in half a season then greenway has ever had in full season. Joker is younger and sign for another year and an RFA.
Minnesota will get players producing and for less then half the price.
I realize the goalie would be sticking point in this trade. If we drop goalies i believe Sabres should get pick coming back?

It could be any team with similar prospect. I think those two players and eating half the salary should return a good defensive prospect.

Savoie (#9OA) is going to be a game-changer and the 2023 pick will be a good one. VAN would save a lot of money on the cap and have more quantity.
It's not like Rathbone (a 4th round pick) and Pederson (undrafted). Comparing Quinn and Savoie to them is funny, though.
The funnier part is that you think Tage would command a smaller return. Tage has 31 goals to Petterson's 18 and has a $1.4mm cap hit.</div></div>
It just crazy how people on this site think their players are so valuable. It hurt me just putting Quinn and Savoie in this trade. But knew he had to be done to make it work. I believe it is an overpay but did that on purpose so people wouldn’t freak.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>worldwidesensei</b></div><div>Why in the world would BUF do this trade? Talk about clearing out the cupboard and for what? Give me the cheap young talented players (3 high 1st round picks) over 1 player that is an injury away from missing a significant amount of time.
Quinn, Savoie and 2023 1st round pick will definitely outscore Petterson (high salary) + 2 other players.
Give me talented depth. We've got Tage. We've got Cozens. We're set at C. We've got tons of C prospects coming up.
The Sabres need a Dman or top G, not another C. We've got Cs and forwards all throughout the organization.</div></div>
I was just trying to see how roster would look. We could have two deadly lines. We still have three first round forward prospects ready to come up next year or two. So we will have to make a big splash like this. We have to many top prospects. That actually look like they will be good players.

Yeah you do realize defense requires forwards as well? Half our forwards are rookies. Playing defense is hardest thing for them to learn. Not saying we don’t need couple dman but we need defensive dman which are cheaper. Can sign couple in off-season or make couple more trades.
UPL looks like good goalie to build around with Levi year two way from being a star. So we need 1b for year or two. Two defensive dman. And couple third line forwards.
We have a ton of assets left to trade. We also have olofsson, mits, Bryson and joker.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>bogdown</b></div><div>Eichel is not a fair comparison because he wanted out. Pettersson would return the Canucks a package bigger than the Tkachuk.
Florida Panthers acquire forward Matthew Tkachuk and conditional fourth-round pick in 2025 NHL Draft from Calgary Flames in exchange for forward Jonathan Huberdeau, defenseman MacKenzie Weegar, forward Cole Schwindt, and conditional first-round pick in 2025 NHL Draft.</div></div>
That trade doesn’t apply to you because you will looking to rebuild so you would not trade him for high end player comparable to him. You would want pick and prospects. Not many teams are willing to or have the assets in that trade. Also those were both sign trades and locked up long term.
Petterson has one year left and can sign one year deal and become UFA. So there is still big risk in signing him.
