Sabres are couple trades away from being elite
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Stadel</b></div><div>yes but these aren't those trades</div></div>
So I am going back and forth on who would be best partner for power defensive guy or puck mover two way guy. I just don’t see power becoming an elite offensive dman like dahlin and think he could benefit more from a guy like this because he will help with breakout pass and skating puck out of the zone.
The reason sami and dahlin work is because Sami is elite defensive guy and can bail dahlin out when he rushes the puck and when they need to breakout dahlin is elite skater and puck handler. So he can skate it or rush it out. Power doesn’t have that luxury so having complimentary player who can help him could be wat he needs. I see power has elite two way dman.
As for Levi. We are a playoff team with average goaltending. We need insurance goalie who can play 60 games if Levi struggles. I can’t see him being able to play 50+ games as a rookie without any AHL experience

Sabres need to trim the fat
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>AC14</b></div><div>Moving down what’s assumed 9-10 spots from 24-32 to like 39 isn’t a big difference in this draft. It’s not worth it. But certainly not fireball</div></div>
Exactly the trade down would be worth a late second. Which I think would be fair trade. Especially with eating half salary.

Other teams would bid that and could lose them. Also rather pay more for two years then give them an extra year when they wouldn’t even make our team.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>Sabres don't have that much fat, but teams aren't taking on Sabres fat and giving up good assets for them either.</div></div>
Sabres fat is better than most teams. Sabres just have so many offensive prospects they have the ability to trade good player to fit them on team. A guy who will score 20+ goals, young goalie, and legit RHD are all very good trade assets.

Gudas is one of the better defensive Dman in the league. He also brings playoff experience and grit missing from the team
Raanta has played well and will help keep pressure off Levi. Without giving up a lot of asset or term I believe it works for the Sabres.
Not sure wat you are expecting from Sabres this year but I think this is something you should expect.

I can’t see the Sabres adding two top 6 forwards in free agency. Just doesn’t make sense with all the young players in system. I can see they adding one stud like bertuzzi but kilorn doesn’t fit this team.

We will see I have seen couple mock drafts that have him fall outside top 15 and couple dman go before him. He isn’t a flashy offensive dman which could heart is draft stock. Something Sabres need which is why I am high on him and that Russian monster Dmitri Simashev. But I believe he is LHD.

I don’t know wat reporters you’re listening to but everyone is saying he is going to make it. Kris baker was on today saying he will see him making roster and if he struggles play in worlds.
Off course it will not hurt him playing another year in WHL but I don’t that is will be best for his development. He is a much better prospect than Barzal was at his age. Not saying he will be better or worse but he is better. Sabres are also in a position to protect him in the lineup while still giving him very good line mates. Not throw in top line like islanders did.

Kulich probably gets a look though. Maybe Rosen too.</div></div>
Savoie makes the team. He doesn’t gain anything from another year in WHL. He will gain more from practicing and sitting in press box. I can see if he struggles they send him to world juniors to boost confidence.
Kulich is 50/50 for me. He will definitely play at some point not sure if it opening night.
Rosen needs to score thirty goals next year in AHL before he gets a shot.

Yeah making this trade means they can’t make any other moves. What was the point of this comment. Getting a cheap backup goalie would be a smart move.

We will see. He is not a the type of player you build around. He will need a a great supporting cast around him. I just dont see capitals making the playoffs anytime soon if they dont make some big changes. He is one of the players they can get value from and they need to do it know.

While he is a good player I dont see a fit with Sabres he is to old to fit the core and alot to give up. I can see Sabres sign player similar to jake but little younger that can grow with this young team.

They are not doing a full rebuild but they are going to be doing a retool. I dont think they will resign Wilson he will have alot of suitors if healthy. Wilson value is tough to judge because he is best season is 50 points playing on the top line. He is no longer a top line winger. He brings physical aspect to the team that no one else in the league can bring. Olofsson will put up similar point totals and score 20+ goals. Rosen is one the top prospects in the league he just had a good rookie AHL season. And top 40 pick. The value is more then fair for a 1 year rental.
If they are retooling I believe this trade has more value to them then 1st and prospect. They got plug and play player, prospect that should be able to contribute net season and pick.

Time to go all in
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>brady_t12</b></div><div>Wilson is not often injured lmao what. He tore his ACL last playoffs and missed half this season, yes, but that's uh pretty understandable. His games played in every season since he entered the league:
13-14: 82 GP
14-15: 67 GP
15-16: 82 GP
16-17: 82 GP
17-18: 78 GP
18-19: 63 GP
19-20: 68 GP (Shortened season by COVID, played in all but 1 game)
20-21: 47 GP (56 game season)
21-22: 78 GP
22-23: 33 GP (torn ACL as I mentioned).
So again, not often injured. And the caps do not need to rebuild. If Wilson is injured so often in your eyes, don't trade for him.</div></div>
Most recent injury will affect his value. But the value you I gave is more then fair.

Mittelsadt had career year while doing so mostly on third line and second power play. In past 9 games he has been playing in and out of top line because Thompson has been hurt. In those games he has 13 points. I think with better line mates he can take another step.
