Sabres will be a problem in the East

Created by: BigDog91
Team: 2023-24 Buffalo Sabres
Initial Creation Date: Apr. 25, 2023
Published: Apr. 25, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Sabres use extra picks to move up and take the best dman in this years draft and both are RHD. It is one of the biggest holes in Sabres farm system. They won’t be ready for 2-3 years which will be perfect time.

I think Savoie makes the team because it would be waste for him to play another year in AHL. Kulich has shot but if he isn’t ready yost steps up and krebs plays third line.
In this scenario Sabres would most likely add couple veterans on two way deals who step up if rookies are struggling and help Rochester kids.

They probably send Savoie back and dont scratch Jost. They're not trading lyubushkin either. Severson probably uses the sabres to get a bigger offer elsewhere, which is fine that contract would worry me.

Kulich probably gets a look though. Maybe Rosen too.

You think VAN is just gonna give you Reinbacher when they also want him? He wouldn't even make it to 11 anyway.

Savoie makes the team. He doesn’t gain anything from another year in WHL. He will gain more from practicing and sitting in press box. I can see if he struggles they send him to world juniors to boost confidence.
Kulich is 50/50 for me. He will definitely play at some point not sure if it opening night.
Rosen needs to score thirty goals next year in AHL before he gets a shot.

In the latest draft MyNHLdraft they have him going 12. And Vancouver selecting Colby Barlow. I can see him going higher than 11.

Savoie isnt making the team, hes going back. Barzal did it too and it didnt hurt his game at all. Its a foregone conclusion. Ask any of the buff reporters

I don’t know wat reporters you’re listening to but everyone is saying he is going to make it. Kris baker was on today saying he will see him making roster and if he struggles play in worlds.

Off course it will not hurt him playing another year in WHL but I don’t that is will be best for his development. He is a much better prospect than Barzal was at his age. Not saying he will be better or worse but he is better. Sabres are also in a position to protect him in the lineup while still giving him very good line mates. Not throw in top line like islanders did.

We will see I have seen couple mock drafts that have him fall outside top 15 and couple dman go before him. He isn’t a flashy offensive dman which could heart is draft stock. Something Sabres need which is why I am high on him and that Russian monster Dmitri Simashev. But I believe he is LHD.

They have two first so thought they could be willing to trade down and stockpile picks. I think value you wise it is more than fair.

We have a lot of picks this draft. We wouldn't really move one of the firsts unless it's for a player that can help us now. We'd need ASP just as much as the Sabres.

Man, UPL doesn't get you a second after this season, and the Predatora don't take that deal.

Can't see Washington as a team targeting UPL with Kuemper and Lindgren under contract for at least the next two years. By the time they'll need a goalie, there's a decent chance Stevenson or Gibson will be ready to come up from Hershey, and UPL's loss of waiver exemption in the near future, I can't imagine it's worth the risk for Washington when they also intend on dealing for a top 6 forward in the offseason.

Nashville has 11 picks in this draft already. Its more about quality than quantity at this point. Even if value is "fair" in a vacuum, it just doesnt make sense for a team that already has a ton of picks in this draft

I think I want them to take simashev if reinbacher is off the board. I want a different build on d. Prefer that they move up to take reinbacher. Of course, I remember how crazy excited I was when both perfetti and rossi fell to the Sabres, and they took Quinn instead. That's been fine so far.
