<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>LuckyMoneyPuck</b></div><div>if you actually new anything about the NHL you'd know what a beer league it was in 1963.
Bobby Orr was making 50k a year by the end of the 60s. Players not as good as him far less. The average salary was around 10k. for an average citizen.
That would be like McDavid earning 250k
Lets not pretend it wasn't a beer league. It got organized to make money.
Your post would have more credibility if it had any actual point to make.</div></div>
So...in 1963, a star player in the NFL (John Brodie) was making $35K and had to jump to a new league to start earning big money and the average MLB salary was $19K. Guess all the leagues were "beer leagues" at that time.

(OTT/FLA) - Tarasenko for 2024 4th (FLA), 2025 3rd (FLA)
Wow...a 4th seems standard to retain salary (50%) for the rest of the season...so that's a 3rd for Tarasenko. Yeah, with a condition that improves the 4th to a 3rd in 2025, but also make the other 3rd pick the worst in the round.
Unless Tarasenko said I will waive for no one but the Cats, this was down-right awful for the Sens.

Tarasenko (50% retained) to FLA for a 3rd (2025) and conditional 4th (2024). Moves to a 3rd if the Cats win the Cup.

TANEV BROS UNITE IN PEG CITY
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SRJD123</b></div><div>Jets are in win now mode and we shouldn't waste Helle's Vezina caliber season. Our defense is already solid and adding a guy like Tanev would only make us better. Our offense will come, we're just slumping right now. If I'm Chevy, I'm doing whatever I can to make this deal happen as long as it doesn't involve any A level prospects (Lambert, McGroaty, Barlow, Salo) or picks for future years.</div></div>
Winnipeg's poor offense & powerplay units will likely end up killing any long run this year...don't think improving our #1 overall defense will change that. Chevy would do better to add a cheaper 3rd pairing RHD option at the deadline if he wants to add depth. At least, that's my thoughts.

So, let me get this straight. You were attempting to make fun of a fan named Mr. Jet by saying his team was crappy by including the Atlanta years where the current ownership group had absolutely no control of the organization and Mr. Jet was very likely not a fan of the team at the time. Makes absolutely no sense to me, but each to their own.

It's basically a 1st round pick and if it ends up costing more, Jets' fans won't care at all.
All the Habs fans here acting like there weren't a bunch of trades suggesting McGroarty, Lambert, & Barlow being a "part" of the return. A bit higher than what I wanted to pay (MTL's 2nd), but not that far off unless the condition is met.

With all of Lucius' injuries, it's looking like Lambert is the only upcoming potential top 6 center. So that's why I don't want to part with him for an approximately 2 percent increase in the likelihood of lifting the Cup this year. Lindholm makes Winnipeg better, but it doesn't make them unbeatable.
How about the Jets 1st, Lucius, and one of Stanley/Chisholm for Lindholm?

And the jets are legit
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>delete</b></div><div>ok thats fair, but you guys have connor, ehlers, perfetti and valiardi on the wings with only schiefle to center them.namestnikov is not a 2nd line center and maybe if you had one like Lindy everything falls into place so lowry is on the 3rd line were he belongs and the jets are a legit contender.</div></div>
I get all that, but I guess I'm not a huge gambler. What's the odds that Lindholm would get the Jets to the Cup, let alone win it this year? Not sure myself, but it isn't a huge number. To me, it isn't worth the risk of losing some great prospects that could provide inexpensive options over the next few seasons. Not when a strong defensive system with a full team bye in backed by Hellebuyck's goaltending would only have a slightly lower chance of making a run.
Both McGroarty & Barlow are said to be high character players that will only help Winnipeg build that team-first culture that was missing in the Wheeler era. Based on Chevy's career to date, he will take swings at the trade deadline, but they are rarely huge ones. I think he won't change his stripes this year, but I could be wrong. Maybe he'll find another gem like he did when he picked up Stastny and Niederreiter at previous deadlines.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>delete</b></div><div>How often have the jets been a legit threat? theres no next yr,when your this close. now i agree a 2nd for Monahan might be a safer way to go,but then if Lindy goes to the avs,the jets chances arent very good.and your sure about Lambert huh for next yr,and is he even going to play center. these orginizations have incredible pressure to win and when your a 2nd line center away, with great goaltending,i like the jets d.you go get the center and go for it,because you dont when your going to get another chance.</div></div>
The Jets 2nd line is really a 3rd line since they play the Lowry trio so often, therefore they aren't really in need of a true 2C. As a fan of the team that watches all the franchises' NHL & AHL games, I do feel Lambert is very close and is playing a strong 2-way game as a center for a bad Moose team (one of few players with a positive plus/minus and scoring a bit under a point per game as an AHL rookie). While Winnipeg has been great this year, I don't think the team is as near to a true Cup contender as their record may suggest. Would rather keep a future with three young forwards (Lambert, McGroarty, & Barlow) filling out the ranks over the next few seasons.

To me, the Jets extending Lindholm would be a mistake....having that much money on two centers until they are 38 sounds like a terrible situation.
Get a cheaper rental this year and wait for Lambert to be the 2C next season. Think Cheveldayoff will do something along those lines.
