Yes I see that and I get it. I feel like Byron would be a huge bounce back candidate on a team where he can get good 3rd line minutes and pk time. Than trade him at the deadline the following year for more than you paid for him

Weals whole contract can not be avoided by sending him to the minors. Only partially. He’s not on a 2-way deal. That’s why he’s involved in that trade and that’s also why I only asked for a 4th for Kulak. Kulak should be a third but I dropped it to a 4th and sent a 7th in order for them to take the entire 1.4 off our hands

Ok I didn’t realize the wild were that stacked. I mean he fits in mtls lineup no doubt but in this scenario I had to move him out to make room for Hoffman. Can we just say that Minny counters with a 5th and we accept?
I originally thought he’d would be an upgrade over Foligno Bujgstad and Hartman

Both these players make your team better. Kulak easily fits on your left side and Weal could be a very affective bottom 6

Evans has a 2-way deal for the first year. He won’t be benched he would be sent to the minors to get more ice time behind Peohling if neither of them make the team

who is Seattle going to take from us
It’s going to depend on whether mtl wants to pay them to take a certain player. I honestly believe it will be Edmundson. He has term and low cap if he plays well than Seattle will want him or enjoy taking a 3rd as well as him. They will have tons of youth getting thrown at them from all teams

I'd be willing to bet Byron clears waivers. Doesn't mean he's not NHL calibre, it's just that there are cheaper and better options available on the UFA market that could be signed to shorter term.</div></div>
You could be right about him clearing waivers. But I don’t think mtl puts him on waivers let alone accepts a deal to pay a 2nd and one of their top prospects to take him.
Byrons contract is too high but he has lots of value in mtl.

I believe the pick was dealt for a later pick in the 3rd round that year and was Norlinder. But now I have to double check
Ya so after checking it was Norlinder. They traded the 2nd to LA for a 3rd and 5th. The 3rd was Norlinder and the 5th was for 2021 not sure what happened to that pick. But now I want to know what the 4th piece we got for pacioretty was.

What Id want the starting lineup too like like with Laffy at C
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Kotkaniemi15</b></div><div>That’s fair, although I don’t know if playing C shook Drouin’s confidence. Sure it was tougher for him than playing wing, but at least he was able to play with the team’s best forward at the time in Pacioretty. Otherwise he’d be playing with Plekanec or a young & inexperienced Phillip Danault. If anything I think playing C might’ve increased his confidence when playing the wing, because he doesn’t have as many responsibilities as he used to.</div></div>
Wait a minute here. Ya guys go ahead and play Lafreniere at 1C hopefully he sucks and you lose all confidence in him than we’ll trade Danault for him next year after extending him. And he’ll be a superstar for us in the correct position at LW

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>RocketHabs</b></div><div>even if negotiation aren't going anywhere i dont see danault being dealt unless habs get to the deadline well out of a playoff spot. It hurts to lose him for nothing but keeping him and tatar around for a playoff push is worth it in my opinion, either of them would only be bringing back futures and given where the habs propsect pool is right now I think getting suzuki kk and the rest another round or two of playoff experience would go a long way. We lucked out moving Patches but thats not the norm by any means we could easily move danault out for prospects/picks that amount to nothing.</div></div>
It’s very hard to argue against that. So the goal is when dealing with prospects is to have a lot of them. Some pan out some don’t. Can’t rely on sure bets there aren’t really any. The fact we have a ton of LHD it would be nice to see some moved for RHD prospects cause Weber and Petry are still here for a while. And the RW is set for some time but LW needs some influx in the prospect pool as well. Unless we keep Danault long term and convert Peohling to the wing but it looks like he could be a very solid centre in the future as well

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Kotkaniemi15</b></div><div>Playing C didn’t hurt Drouin. The team was bad in 17-18, and he took steps in 18-19. He was looking really good last year, until he got injured.
I’m saying that Galchenyuk never would’ve worked out in Montreal, no matter what position he played.
And I’m not saying the Rangers should play Lafrenière on the 1st line, or at C, but it wouldn’t hurt anyone to just try him down the middle and see if he is good/comfortable there.</div></div>
That’s what this post suggests. Lafreniere at 1C.
And during the last 3 years for Drouin where he should’ve been progressing better than he has it hasn’t ruined his career but you’d have think it has hindered his confidence a little for sure. Injuries have played a role as well but he’s supposed to be a rockstar and flashes of that aren’t enough. I do think he’s in the right spot now and will be very good barring injury again. But I wouldn’t be wasting important time like that with a player like Lafreniere seeing what it can do to players of that caliber

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Kotkaniemi15</b></div><div>Well it didn’t <strong>do</strong> anything to Drouin, other than the fact that he struggled for 1 year. And Galchenyuk just had too big of expectations put on him, and he would’ve cracked under the Montreal pressure whether he played C or not.
I don’t think it would hurt to try Lafrenière at C for a day or 2 in training camp, but yes, like you said, you shouldn’t try to force a player to playing a position they aren’t comfortable with or good at.</div></div>
Drouin has yet to hit his potential and who knows whether he ever will after being bounced around like that. He still has lots of potential and time but that certainly didn’t help his growth.
Galchenyuk Is a different story he was bounced around so much it ruined him. I think he was a good centre at one point but could never gain the trust of his coaches.
You think plugging Lafreniere into the 1C role as a rookie in New York would be much less pressure than Mtl?

Just ask Bergevin what it’s like trying to put a square into a round hole. Lafreniere isn’t a centre man.
Looking back at Galchenyuk and Drouin as examples of what it does to a player when you don’t put them in a position where they can succeed
