Petry isn't waiving his clause to play in CHI, and CHI isn't paying for him, either.

Detroit Gets Their Goalie
Might be wrong but doesn’t Detroit have a really good goalie prospect, better to wait on that than Gibson, who’s been kinda booty in recent years and has a bad contact

To a degree, I can't blame Lalonde.
It's hard not to give that pairing all the God-awful defensive assignments when the alternative to Seider is Petry or Holl or Ghost.

Gibson isn’t the answer and that’s way too low on Walman.

Detroit Gets Their Goalie
We're are not trading Shai Buium, We can't afford John Gibson at 3 years @ $6,400,000 and Anaheim declines.
Patrick Kane and Shayne Gostisbehere will come in at least 3 x $5,000,000 each. Ghost just put up his 2nd best career numbers and he's not staying in Detroit and taking a major discount.
For one year David Perron will get around $3,000,000 Most of your UFA signings aren't even close.
Jake Walman is worth more than a 3rd, And we're not trading him anytime soon.
LOL Raymond isn't making more than Seider, Switch them around and you're closer.

Detroit gets a goalie... That has been **** for half a decade now.
I'm sure he'll be better behind the elite defensive 2nd pairing of Ghost/Petry.

would ASP and the 1st be acceptable?</div></div>
The fit isn't there really for Detroit. We can't afford his cap hit plus we aren't ready to be spending high end assets for veteran players, no matter how good they are. We need ASP more than we need Connor for the future. Detroit just isn't a buyer and likely won't be for a few more years.

It's 1 year of eller who plays a similar game to get copps cap off the roster. Compher is the same player and we could use the 5M cap hit.

Moose hasn't been all that great this year after showing signs of improvement last year. That said I think I just stick with him over adding two thirds. Rather hope he rebounds than sell low.

There is zero chance Yzerman wants Kane on this team or in his locker room. Not even close to taking this deal.

No thanks from Detroit, he hasn't great as far as I'm concerned, but we paid enough to get him. We hold onto him for at least one more season.

We might be broke soon
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PuzzledActuary</b></div><div>Here we go again....
Raymond hasn't shown he's worth even close to $7M a year....the term is completely irrelevant until he does. In fact, if we're stuck to a $7M player for 8 years playing like a $4M-5M player, that wouldn't be good.</div></div>
Here we go again....
It's a bet. Realistically, past two years Faymond looks like a 4-5M guy, I agree. However, is the cap going to stay 83.5M forever?
Are 4-5M guys going to stay "4-5M guys"? No and no. It is a bet that Raymond gets better, with the plus side of a very good contract with the downside of we overpay him by 1-2M now, but will likely be right around the going rate of his caliber.

More examples provides a better picture. Hronek adds context to what a defenseman who gets 1st back looks like.

That's a steep price. It's almost as much as Leafs fans want for Nylander.
