Hypothetically he becomes available

Created by: pavelisgoat
Team: 2023-24 Detroit Red Wings
Initial Creation Date: Nov. 7, 2023
Published: Nov. 7, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I know he isn’t available, and I don’t see a reason he will be with the way Vancouver is playing. But say you’re forced to trade him because at season end he decides he won’t sign. Canucks fans - the cost is high, how high?

Wallinder will go nice with Willander.

I like EP but thats an insane overpayment 5+ first round assets, plus 2 additional blue chip prospects. No way

Seems like an overpayment but he’s probably worth it

laugh laugh On what planet is Elias Pettersson worth the equivalent of 5 1st and 2 2nds? Sorry that's the kind of return you give up for McDavid not Pettersson.

alright alright I’ve got it, it’s an overpayment. Roger that. Rather start from here and work my way towards fair deal than hearing from Van fans he isn’t available. What can I take out that makes it reasonable? Surely Raymond and Kasper have to stay. Wallinder and a 1st?
And I might rather have EP at this point, guy plays defence very well. McDavid plays defence very poorly.

This is a fair trade. However he is not for sale until the Canucks commit to a rebuild. Maybe this could had been done last year when rebuild was an option. But this year the Canucks are a wagon and hence this trade will never see the light of day.

It’s more a hypothetical of EP refusing to sign with the canucks than the Canucks choosing a different direction. My understanding is that if the Canucks are competitive, that’s where EP wants to be. So as you say, wouldn’t happen now.

That's a steep price. It's almost as much as Leafs fans want for Nylander.

Petey: 'Thanks boss'

Yzerman : 'BTW Kostin is on your wing'

He's one of our better defensive prospects, I think the Canucks take that deal though, just barely. Maybe add a 7th rounder as a sweetener.

You'd be right to say that Petey isn't available and that there's absolutely no reason for him to become available. If for whatever reason the Canucks look like the team of the past few years from here on out and Pettersson wants out of Vancouver at the end of the season, the Canucks will still be looking to contend. They'll look for a Tkachuk-type trade, but will most likely look for the returning players to be younger than Huberdeau and Weegar. The ask would probably start with Seider, who I'd assume is a non-starter from Detroit. However, this offer is a great return and if anything, may be an overpay on Detroit's end. Should Vancouver choose to go the full rebuild route, I certainly would be anything but disappointed with this return.

Because Danielson, Mazur and Edvinsson are very important pieces of the future.
