Fine, give him to us for FC with no retention and we'll take him. The fact is, where we're at in our process, futures are FAR more important to us than a diminutive 35 year old on an expiring deal. Look elsewhere.

Still not the pieces that Ottawa would be seeking in a DeBrincat trade And ADB isn't signing for 7 x 8 in Minnesota from what's being reported he accepts that in Detroit but not elsewhere.

Guentzel idea
If Jake isn’t being resigned by PIT, I think dubas would rather move him then get nothing in return…
I have to think he could get 2 late first round picks at least if the trade was for futures, but as far as actual assets ti help PIT now, not sure what MIN would be willing to part with

Building off the last roster i made
Any Spurgeon trade to EDM would probably have to be dollar-in-dollar-out where the dollars leaving EDM are cap dumps and MNs compensation comes in the form of futures. EDM is in total win now mode - they're not removing key pieces like Ekholm.
It'd prob have to be some combo of Ceci, Foegele, Yams and picks for balance....idk it's hard to see a fit due to both teams' cap situations, but that's prolly the best shot at finding something mutual.

I don’t think it makes any sense for Edmonton to move Ekholm. They gave up a lot to get him and he got in perfectly. He’s the ideal fit for the 2nd pair spot with Bouchard.
Calgary likely goes for better quality if they trade Lindholm - they’re bound to get a ton of offers if he’s available

Eriksson-Ek is a hell of a player. Possible future Selke winner too. MIN should and will keep him. If they sell him then they might as well sell everyone.

Not with Dean Evason as coach and Bill Guerin as gm. Wallstedt is not playing in nhl thus year. Neither is Ryan r. The plan with Wallstedt has already been made clear.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Billy_Guerins_Burner</b></div><div>Fleury will stay, he will end out this season with us and i wont be surprised that if in next summers free agency he will sign a contract with Pittsburgh just to retire, guys like Goligoski and Fleury I dont think will move because they aren’t waiving their NMC, and they won’t waive because they dont want to uproot their families, thats mostly the reason they have those NMCs anyways, and i dont see them moving Gus, maybe Addison but thats it tbh</div></div>
Basically, though I do think they'll move Addison and replace him with a cheaper veteran that could be sent to Iowa in the unlikely scenario a guy like O'rourke or Hunt has a good enough camp to make the team. That will shave off enough money to sign Ryan Reaves since Guerin seems to like what he brings. Pretty good chance they run a 22 man roster until the deadline, where they once again tinker around the edges without making any major trades.
Things will get a little more interesting in 2024 when Hartman, Fleury, Zuccarello, and Foligno are all UFAs.

He seems like the type of guy who Minnesota would trade for lol but yeah the purpose of that was to clear room and cap so he could go anywhere for anything
And it would still work

Another Future 1C idea
I like Foligno and what he brings, and the price is good too. However, I don't think there's any room for him even if the Sabres do end up moving Olofsson. There's a parade of youngins chomping at the bit for roster spots next season. The top six is pretty much set along with Casey Mittelstadt somewhere in the mid-six. Matthew Savoie is too good to back to the Dub but can't play in the AHL and Jiri Kulich is having a breakout pro season in Rochester at the tender age of 19. Both will have a legit shot for third line duties. Lucas Rousek is almost a given for a 4th line/reserve role and in addition to him, three other youngins will be vying for that same role.

Re-trying the Barrett Hayton Idea I had
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Billy_Guerins_Burner</b></div><div>They could always use the pick they would receive here to trade up too, But I see where you’re coming from, projections can be risky and Hayton has shown sparks of being able to make the jump to a top 6 guy already, so its most definitely less risky</div></div>
For sure, that's a good point - I mean, AZ does already have picks 6 and 12 in this draft, so they may be content with that. But if you add 21 + Lambos, there's no question you can do a lot of quick work to backfill Hayton. I think it's a good proposal. I do think AZ declines, but it's definitely a good post and there's plenty of meat on the bone.

It's an interesting valuation. IMO, AZ still declines since it's less risky and more projectable to just keep Hayton.
But I do think it's a good post. Given that AZ is still years away from being truly competitive, it becomes a question of projection. In 4-5 years, would you rather have Hayton OR Lambos + one of [Ritchie, Musty, Cristall, Edstrom, Honzek, etc.]
Ultimately comes down to how highly AZ views Lambos and the 18-25 range of the draft, but that's still too hard to project against the known commodity of Hayton.

After how Hayton broke out at the mid wayish point of the season, I can’t see Arizona trading him not unless it was quite a substantial overpay.
Once the coach finally gave him the chance to play in the top 6 he thrived big time, his 2 way upside is also a big positive.
Personally I think they are looking at Hayton and Cooley for their top 6 centers of the future

I think Hayton would take an overpay....the guy was a 5th OA pick and they've been patient with him. He finally took a major step forward this past season and is still only 22.
I'd imagine it's a 1st + A prospect to even start the discussion.

Lindholm is a UFA next summer, not in 2025. So he'll already be under contract elsewhere (either CGY or whoever signs him). And he definitely gets more - I'd think it's a JT Miller type contract for him easy.

I’ll take Foligno in a separate deal, guy is a stud
