Cap Casualties
We would be lucky if Gus signed for that low, otherwise this is good, Johansson plays with Boldy for sure tho, they have great chemistry, Rodrigues would prob move into 3C and move Freddy to LW

Shaw is worth a little more than minimum, sure injuries and what not, he will start on LTIR but he was our best penalty killer for the majority of the season with Dewar, and i think Duhaime could be worth something if he could hone in on his offensive skills because he’s decent defensively and is very fast

Retool
I like this but you could be gotten Shaw and Duhaime for like 250k cheaper, I doubt either go for more than 1.25M, and you would probably have to give Winnipeg a pick for them to want to take on that contract, Gus will probably want 250k more, but otherwise this is really good imo

No he would probably be extending his contract at the end of the season, but either way for a guy of his caliber I dont think its an underpayment at all if you’re really in win now mode, this is just for fun because realistically the wild should re-tool a little, not try to buy all in like this

Kaprizov would stay but I would be willing to give up Boldy, Rossi, and more top prospects, plus picks, but again for me this would be like a dream scenario that wont happen, it was meant to be far-fetched

Brodin could maybe fit in somewhere, he’s arguably the best shutdown D-man in the league and would be valuable in a best on best tourney

Cap trouble check
I think that neither move their NMC, but if you want to make cap you can buyout Goligoski and create 1.3M in space, which seems more plausible than trying to trade him. I think that Dumba is gone as well, if you want to resign Addison I can see it but personally I would rather find a 6th D in free agency thats less of a defensive liability, a side note is that Shaw will probably be on LTIR but it depends on the timeline, will at least start on IR for the season

Because he is a defensive liability, and he hasn’t showed otherwise, if he grew his defensive side I would say maybe keep him but he is a poor man’s Erik Karlsson

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>drmantalban</b></div><div>At least one other contract will have to be moved. Can't run a 21 man team with pocket change for cap space.
Something may have to give with Goligoski, Foligno, and/or Merrill - MAFs probably a long shot, but I guess he can be considered too for the sake of discussion.
I do think you're close with the theme of "no major changes" but this is too much of a shoestring budget.</div></div>
I thought about getting rid of an extra contract but, I dont see them moving Foligno due to the role he brings, Goligoski has an NMC, same with Flurey, and I doubt either waive that clause. Merrill i could see but then i would have to bring up another D-man and I’m not sure any of the AHL guys are ready yet, if you move someone it would have to be a different forward, i could see Hartman if they want Rossi to play this year just because I’m not sure if he fits in this lineup yet, he needs more development

I'd rather that happen than rushing up Wallstedt, especially since it's still an unknown about how many games Gus starts next season. Could still be a 1A/1B situation, but with the number of starts reversed. Also, Hunter Jones is barely a legitimate prospect anymore - he is struggling in the ECHL. Don't know if there are any plans to sign him back, but he is still young so who knows.</div></div>
I really only got rid of fleury because i wanted space to resign Shaw and Duhaime

I fixed it for ya, but for me what wing side they play on shouldnt matter that much, i dont think it changes a players performance all too much or even at all, i could be wrong tho

I thought about putting him and Dumba as that defensive paring on the 2nd PP but I just went with brodin because more experience although I do think Addison could definitely see time on the PP, I would like to see what he could do in a regular season game though, he has looked good when he played PP so far during the preseason

Theoretical 33rd Expansion Draft
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ProAvsFanatic</b></div><div>Jost would be a great role player for an expansion team and I loved him during his time in Colorado. Greenway would also be a nice depth piece in the early years and Duhaime wouldn’t be bad either. Personally, I wouldn’t go for Middleton but that’s me.</div></div>
I like Middleton because he’s a big physical defensive defenseman and a guy who holds the fort down, he is a good second paring defenseman that can play good minutes and is great when he’s paired with someone who is more of an offensive defenseman and a guy why can really stretch the ice

Right, and as a wild fan I am ok with giving either of those guys up, but I think if we were to resign Middleton he would be available and I’m not sure if I like that all too much, and they could still take decent pieces in the bottom 6 too, like duhaime, maybe even greenway depending on who they were to protect, I think the last two to be protected is greenway or Jost, both solid players that would suck to lose

Theoretical 33rd Expansion Draft
This is a good team, but if the last two expansion drafts say anything it’s that the wild will be protecting dumba, because we would protect Kaprizov, Hartman, Zuccarello, Boldy, Ekk, Rossi, Jost and for defenseman protect Spurgeon, Brodin, Dumba, in this scenario Addison isn’t on the roster and Rossi is, now if he was I think we would protect 6 forwards and 4 defenseman, as well we would protect Talbot because he is out only goalie.
