<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>rja40</b></div><div>I agree with you BGTC. In a real trade, Necas would have to be a guy we acquired from Carolina. I love the dude. However, my primary goal (as it is entitled above) is to acquire McDavid, which would take a lot of 1st round picks. If I structured my trades for the best prospect I could get, some of those guys (like Necas) are so good, it could possibly prevent my ability to land the number of top picks I sought to acquire McDavid. It's not like the majority of the guys I acquired are riff-raff (and this includes an old Backes on a terrible contract). I brought Backes in to lead by example (as a 4th line guy) all of these young studs I've acquired. He has always played the game correctly and proved for years he was a good leader, and Boston needs to dump him badly. I took on Backes to ensure Boston gave up what I wanted. I get the idea to try and acquire all of the top prospects from each team, but that's just not possible long-term salary cap wise, and all teams need some indians since not everyone can be a chief. Bottom pairing and bottom nine guys are needed. While we'd all like the perfect EA Sports team, that isn't feasible in the modern game. I tried to acquire guys who would fill the needs of the team at the prices I projected I could afford if it were a true team. Perhaps I blew it on some of them, but it is after all, just a hypothetical team.</div></div>

All fair - I still think Tarasenko is worth Necas + Pesce + 1st. He's a top winger in the game. He gets a top return.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mobluesfan</b></div><div>Completely agree with the Dunn statement. I just read something where the analytics show that Dunn has actually improved a little over last year. Yes bonehead and lazy plays, but overall better. Another reason I chose Edmundson. I get the Carolina trade as well, i did say it may be a little of an over payment. But as <a href="/users/BeastModeUnknown" target="_blank">@BeastModeUnknown</a> says, maybe concentrate just on Hamilton and do Schenn+

The Gardiner thing... that's a matter of opinion. Right now it's no secret we are weak at LD. I like Dunn, but Edmundson I'm not to sure about, your probably losing Jaybo and gunnar. Small possibility on bringing Gunnar back on a very short term deal, but regardless we need some depth. Why would Toronto get rid of him? They may not be able to resign him with their cap situation. Why would we take him? See the need for depth on the left side, of course I would hope for an extension.

Bobrosky. I get this one would be a hot topic because of Kyrou. To each their own on the goalie situation. Some people want to dump Allen and just ride Binnie. Some want to dump Allen and replace with another "middle of the road" goalie. Some want to bring in a veteran to play a couple year to give time for Binnie and Husso (maybe even Fitzpatrick) to develop and see what they can do. My opinion - if you can get an elite goalie when you've been searching for an answer in goal for.... well, forever.. then you do it. Again, giving up Kyrou would be if you re-sign him. If you dont, then you give less. IF you can get an elite goalie, you are going to have to give to get. The addition of Kapanen would soften the blow on this as well. I like Kyrou and I hope he turns out, but you cannot depend on your top prospects to develop into elite talent. We've been there and done that many times to. If there is one thing that is the Achilles heel of the Blues, it's goaltending. You have to have consistent goaltending in this league if you are going to win and we havent had it for years.

If no Bob, then i vote for bringing in a veteran to hold the fort while the youngsters develop and hope (the for the umpteenth time) that one of them turn out.</div></div>

I think for Gardiner I'm okay with bringing him on, just not sure it's something Armstrong would do. Now what I should have said bout Bob is that I personally think we could get him for cheaper. I'm all for offloading Allen + 2nd rounder + a prospect or even Fabbri for Bob. I don't think it's going to take as much as people think to get Bob. I think they're in a position where over the next month everyone knows he isn't resigning so they're going to be in a bad position for leverage. At least here they get a possible starting goalie, a 2nd rounder and then a middle of the road prospect (or a reclamation project in Fabbri's case)
