Ducks What if they tank in 2019-2020
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>saph</b></div><div>I personally think you're giving too much; maybe changing the 2nd to a 4th would even it out.</div></div>
I agree with you that it feels like I may be giving up a lot in the deal. What made me give up the 2nd round pick was the Fowler contract. Under this trade the Ducks would be free of the Ladd and Boychuk contracts within 3 years and both also have a lower cap hit. The Fowler contract is for 6 years and has a higher cap hit as well. I get the feeling that the last 2-3 years of that contract could be pretty rough for the Islanders. Im also a big fan of Wilde. I would imagine that Fowler is a considerable upgrade to Boychuck for the next 2 years, hence why the Islanders would be intrigued. For the Ducks it would also free up cap space to be used elsewhere. Hope that kind of explains my rationale

Getting a 2C
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Grantedspace96</b></div><div>Horvat had good chemistry with Pettersson and Boeser last year
Besides, 61 points isn’t a 2C</div></div>
I would say Horvat is the perfect 2C, and 61 points with terrible wingers is more than enough production for that role. Im not sure on the value for the trade, but I would only make sense if the Canucks could some how move Sutter or Beagle. Stephen would be a solid 3rd line center, giving the Canucks higher end depth.

Forward depth VAN
The Canucks would take that deal and run. Baertschi is good and could produce 40 points if healthy and in the right situation, but the rest as essentially replacement level players. Manning is obviously for cap purposes, but I think Brodziak might actually be an upgrade over Sutter. Bear and the 2nd are solid gets for the Canucks.

Messing around with Evander Kane
I don't know if you can get rid of the Gudbranson contract or the Johnson contract without giving up a sweetener. They are bot replacement level d-men that are being paid too much. I don't mind the Hutton signing all to much however. The Kane trade is interesting im not the biggest fan of his or his contract, but I wonder if taking on the remaining years of Bjustad (who isn't all that good) and Hornqvist (who also doesn't have a great contract and is worse than Kane) i is wort getting the first round pick (which will be in the back half of the draft. Also could the Sharks really take on that much salary? Especially since they have to resign Labanc in a year and he definitely isn't getting 1 million again. I think overall the sharks reject pretty quickly.

Why is Tage in nobodies lineup
Bogosian, Sobotka and Scandella all have negative value for what they are being paid. I can't see a team doing Buffalo any favours and taking them while also giving a pick. For the Canucks specifically, they don't need Bogosian. They already have enough mediocre d-men and need every pick they have after already giving up a 1st and a 3rd in the Miller trade.

Depending on the Marner contract situation they could have more space, but also the Canucks could still retain almost 30% more of Tanev's contract, in which case I wouldn't expect the value to change much from Toronto's end and it would also help Tanev fit into the leafs cap situation. But if the Canucks didn't retain any salary on Tanev than sure they could take on Ceci.

Because I was taking Steen I tried to mitigate some of that loss from Bostons end by 1) giving them a C level prospect (Chatfield) 2) retaining salary on Sven as you mentioned and taking on Millers contract 3) I also tried to lower the risk for Boston by making the 3rd round pick conditional on Sven getting 40 points in which case I think his 3mill contract would be good value for Boston. If he does not meet the condition Boston would give a 7th round pick instead.
Regardless based on the feedback, I think Steen makes the value more lopsided for the Bruins.

Lol I also did not realize that Steen had a good year in the SHL. I think this trade could work by perhaps switching out the prospect for someone that's more of a project as compared to Steen.

Boston Toronto accept, but Vancouver are getting robbed.</div></div>
I think the Toronto trade is more about clearing Tanev's cap space. I personally don't see Tanev's value all to highly now given his injury history and recent struggles on the ice. So getting a couple picks and a C prospect would seem like a fair return to me. But I can see where your're coming from.
What do you thing would be a fairer return for the Rangers? From what I understand is that they are willing to move Buchnevich given their cap situation. Id assume that any trade with the Rangers would also involve taking on a bad contract as well.

Buffalo Sabres Playoff Team
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jasalex</b></div><div>I don't think he is on the block. Cooper stated he could be the next Bergeron. You are right, he is going to be really good. Would love to move Stamkos to left wing and have him take one timers all day. Point Cirelli will be a strong one-two center combination.</div></div>
I think ideally Tampa wouldn't trade him either, but with Point getting close to 8-9 million (likely) I think it would be really hard to fit a player like Cirelli into the fold. Especially if he has a 65-75 point year (which is my prediction for him this season). He could easily ask for 6 million plus and under those circumstance I think Tamapa would kinda be forced to explore its trade options. Honestly as a Canucks fan I think he would be an amazing offer sheet target next year.

Loool true, Sabres and playoffs together just feel wrong. I think with Eichel and Dahlin they have the major pieces.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jasalex</b></div><div>TBL puts you on the do not call list. Hunwick did not even play last year, the cap hit is 1.75. TB buys out Cally at a hit of 2.66. We keep Cirelli and you keep the picks.</div></div>
Lool did not know about Hunwick. Tried to make adjust the trade to make it worth more for Tampa. I think this trade is closer. Pilut is a good 5-6 defensive option and is still fairly young. The picks are a 2nd and a 3rd, which a strong drafting team like Tampa could find some gems with. Also I a depth goalie in Ullmark and a depth winger in Thompson, who has 1st round pedigree and could still turn things around. Still not sure on the value, but I think Cirelli would be a fantastic add to Buffalo. I really think the player could breakout with a bigger role. In my lineup he would eventually take over as 2nd line center over Turris.

Would this be a playoff team
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>klondikebar</b></div><div>I think they COULD sneak into a wild card spot</div></div>
Yeah they could definitely sneak into a playoff spot, but I also think that it might be beneficial for this team to be bad for one more year. Apparently the 2020 draft is loaded with offensive talent. It could really bolster this teams offense moving forward. However, playoff experience is also very valuable.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Booyah</b></div><div>Feel like we need more of an upgrade on forward than just Miller, and more than just Gardiner on D</div></div>
Yeah I agree that we probably need more to be a legit playoff contender. But I also think that the Canucks would be wise to avoid doing too much this year, given that they will have a cap crunch coming soon. They have been rumored to be interested in Gardiner, I think at a reasonable term and cap he would be a good addition. As far as Miller, the hope is you get him cheap because of Tampa's cap situation. Also with this lineup your banking on Juolevi, Pettersson, Boeser, Gaudette and Hughes all taking some type of step forward (although that might be a bit of a stretch).
