You legit just gave the Jets more for Copp as a rental. Why would the jets take less when they can just keep him and sell him as a rental for the same price in 1.5 yrs?

There is still a very high ceiling on Zadina and we're not moving him without seeing what he can do with a new coach and some consistent linemates first and certainly not for an unimpressive return.</div></div>
If Detriot is looking for a vet Dman and rumors are that they are Dillon is a really good option. His season hasn't great last year but the 3 seasons before that with good coaching he was a very good defensive top 4 dmen. At 3.9mil for 2 years he fits well and is off the books when the young guys need to be paid and played. He's been a good PKer most of his career and isn't just big he can actually play. So why would the jets trade him... well he was more value and is easier to trade than Schmidt and jets have 2 young LD that need to start getting nhl mins.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>budgeteam</b></div><div>They did not get a 1st for Copp.
They got two late 2nds, one of which could upgrade to one of the last picks in the first round (now 30th overall) if the Rangers made the conference final, which was far from a given.
There is a pretty standard price for a player like Dubois at the deadline. It's usually a late 1st, and one or two other assets. With Dubois possibly telegraphing his intention to test free agency, it's unlikely anybody puts up a prospect as good as whoever will be on the table at 7. Not to mention there are a lot of star players available this off season because of the current cap crunch.
7th overall vs a late 1st is a major jump in value. If you have the 7th overall pick, and someone wants to move up from 30 to 7, how many 1st or 2nd round picks would you expect it to cost? It's disingenuous both to ignore that Copp's 1st was conditional (on a condition that was very difficult to meet), and that the headline piece in the above proposal is significantly more valuable than the headline piece traditionally given for players like Dubois at the TDL (a late 1st).
The above is why Dubois probably gets traded in more of a hockey trade, because nobody is giving the Jets anything close to the 7th overall for Dubois as a 2 year rental. Just based on what happened last time he was shopped (when he had more value) and how many young impact players are currently rumored to be on the block, with only so many landing spots of teams with cap space and premium assets to give up.</div></div>
You legit are a complete ****ing idiot. Nothing in your ramblings makes any sense. Ben Chiarot got Montreal what? Andrew Ladd got the Jets what? Both players not even in the same sphere as Dubois from an impact stand point. Oh and you completely undervalue the 7th pick by adding in a massive cap dump which is all Murray is. His contract alone likely costs at least a 1st to move. Oh and if you use Dom's draft pick value Dubois is actually value is closer to 2 1sts around the 7th overall pick. You can actually math this out and the value you are offering is at least 50% light of the actual value Jets are sending back. This isn't rocket science you can actually look up and give value to all those pieces in the trade. And it come up extremely light on the Sens part.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>budgeteam</b></div><div>The Leafs cannot take the dead cap for buying out Mrazek. Buying out Mrazek not only costs them the 1M buyout hit this year, but it also costs them at minimum 750k to fill Mrazek's roster spot. Probably more than that.
With a trade between the Leafs with Murray (retained salary)+Del Zotto for Mrazek+Holl, the idea would be for it to be cap neutral for the Leafs, and at least salary neutral for the Senators. So the idea was to take that trade idea, based on Chris Johnston's speculation about Murray and Toronto, and bring the Jets in as the third team to retain on Murray, so that they can get a better asset for Dubois as a 2 year rental.
If value is off from any side, like Winnipeg should get more for Dubois, or the Leafs should get a pick for Holl, those things are easy enough to square up.
Usually, when I make a trade proposal, it's more about the idea of what problems it solves for the teams, and what the main important pieces are. I mean, if someone thinks the Jets would want two firsts instead of one, then yeah, the trade makes no sense. But if the criticism is that it would take a 2nd or 3rd round pick added into the main pieces, or another B prospect, those are pretty small changes in the grand scheme of a trade idea.</div></div>
The Jets literally just traded 2 months of Andrew Copp for a 1st, 2nd and b level prospect but is now going to take a cap dump goalie, dmen prospect that won't even be too 3 at his position in winnipegs prospect pool and 1st (only real value) and late pick for 2yrs min of a young 1c and top 4 cheap dmen? Do you understand how ridiculous this trade is? Stupid is a better word actually.

$12.5m should be enough to cover MacKinnon's raise, bridge deals for Newhook and Byram, and a new deal for Meyers.</div></div>
MacK is getting what 12+mil? Byram if he stays healthy is going to need like 4-5 mil on a bridge. Oh and likely the avs will have 1-2mil in bonus overages on the cap from 2022-23.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Richard88</b></div><div>Thanks for the feedback. I like this team as well. Copp fills a huge need here, and at a price point that allows the Avs to keep Girard.
I think you're right about Motte. I think he gets more which will price him out from Colorado. They need to be going cheap in the bottom 6 from now on so will probably go for vets like Cogliano and Helm to save the pennies. Motte would be a perfect stylistic fit for this Avs team though, I'm sure he's on their radar. They Avs front Office have a 'tell' in who they target, which is transition metrics - specifically zone exit/entry rates, and Motte is great at those. He's also a hound on the forecheck which is something Bednar loves.</div></div>
SO how are the AVs affording anyone the next yr? Newhook, Byrum? MacK? Avs will need like close to 20mil dollas in cap space in 2023-24 just for those 3.

You're right the the Devils goaltending situation is risky and precarious. They won't throw away assets just to be in the playoffs immediately.</div></div>
Not sure how the leafs actively being bad to get Matthews and to a lesser extent Marner is a fundamental misunderstanding? The leafs with their front office made moves to be bad in 2015-16 and surprise it worked.
