(EDM/NYR) - 2023 5th (EDM) for Grubbe
As a recent 3rd round pick, Jayden Grubbe has shown tremendous growth playing for the Red Deer Rebels.
The Rangers should not have given up on him.
Certainly not for a 5th round pick.
The Edmonton Oilers win the trade.

I think Bert is my first choice as well. Also worth considering Bunting and Compher, IMO.
Killorn and MoJo are both on the older side, and we need to get younger. I'd take either of them if they're available, but I'd focus a younger player over both.

I think that Pittsburgh management is reasonably high on him for that limited purpose from what he showed them at the end of the season, which is why they signed him so quickly. But maybe he just looks good by comparison, and economical.

An unrealistic deadline
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JSEB93</b></div><div>That would probably be pretty close in my opinion - and I think they would definitely consider it. Obviously I don't know for sure - I'm just trying to go based on the reported asking price of a 1st round pick, A level prospect, and established young NHL player. You could make the argument that the Pens 1st round pick, Pickering, and Smith could fit those descriptions - however you could also make the argument that another team would be able to beat that offer.</div></div>
I agree but looking at the recent trades of Horvat and Taresenko, while yes, I know Timo is a significantly better player especially this year, the trades were underwhelming for the seller. I think Timo goes for less than expected. And I don't think it's out of the question that the Pens can go after him and make an offer that the Sharks would choose over another teams. Will Ron Hextal actually attempt that kind of a trade is a whole different question lol

Henrique should definitely be targeted.
That package isn't going to get you Meier. Plus I'm not sure I like essentially paying Reimer almost 3mil when he's not any better than Desmith

These comments are exactly why I don’t use this site anymore besides the GM game. But I needed a good laugh and I definitely came to the right place.
This contract is absolutely brilliant. Do you really think for a second that Kris Letang given his injury history will play out the entirety of the contract? Absolutely not. He will be sent on LTIR like the Weber / hosss deals towards the end. The contract kept the AAV ridiculously low for the initial years of the deal, and in the “ugly” years of the contract, he will be on LTIR.

The way I see it, the Pens only want to be competitive for 3 more years (until Crosby’s contract is up and he’s 37). So as long as this contract is good value for like 2 years (debatable, but probably), they’re fine with it. What do they care if they need to buyout or LTIR for the last 3 years - they’ll be trying to win the draft lottery by then anyway.

How is term the most important? They have 3 more years of Sid and then it's a rough looking rebuild. Term is irrelevant. Getting Letang at 6mil is a huge W.
