Perreault is in last year and easy to get draft pick during the season. Niku can be good if he is healthy. Not what he used to be so he can't bring back much but might be nice to see Keith have a few more shots with his hometown team if he was willing to go back. Some Chicago media has him going to a few teams for a 3rd and 5th or a bottom pair defenseman and a mid round draft pick!</div></div>
I mean if that's the return we would get from him then there's no point in trading him. We are going into a rebuild so the money is not that big a deal plus he's only making 6.25M total for the next 3 years so it's cheaper than the cap. I get that other teams want him, but he's out hall of fame defensemen that is still very good and we aren't going to throw him away from a couple mid draft picks.

We really aren't interested in trading Keith for this return. Rather he just retire in Chicago

Just trade them to another team in a separate deal.
Also, without them it's still lacking one piece because the Islanders will be legit with Kane and those 1sts and 2nds will be late.

Is Justin Williams a future hall of famer
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Revans292</b></div><div>2 Olympic gold metals isn’t nothing 560+ goals isn’t nothing and 110 game winning goals isn’t nothing, he was grossly underrated throughout his career but I can see your argument he was never truly elite but he was a super star for San Jose and did done great things in his career.</div></div>
Olympic gold medal winners 2010: Dan Boyle, Brent Seabrook, Danny Heatley, Brendan Morrow, Rick Nash, Mike Richards, Eric Staal. 2014 Team Canada had: Mike Smith, Dan Hamhuis, Jay Bouwmeester, Marc Eduard Vlasic, Matt Duchene, Patrick Sharp, Chris Kunitz, Rick Nash, Jeff Carter. That's not even including a bunch of players who have far better resumes that may not even get in like Jamie Benn.
The only reason he has those goal/point/GWG totals is because he played 1700+ games. That all links back to my whole point which is that his only claim to the hall of fame is on the fact that he played so many games.
I completely think he will get in, but I don't think he should.
Also some of those players I mentioned have strong resumes too because Seabrook and Sharp both won 3 cups, Heatley was an elite NHLer for a while, Nash had a hockey, Staal had some high point seasons + a cup, and Kunitz had 4 cups and a top 10 point finish

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>draft_em_sign_em_trade_em</b></div><div>I already had a conversation about Marleau and the HOF in a different ACGM with the breadman....the answer is 1st ballot HOF.
In a short span of 4 seasons (1991-1996) Roberts was hands down the 2nd best power forward in the NHL, Neely got into the HOF with a similar short term dominance.</div></div>
It isn't a question of whether he will make it or not, it's about whether he should make it. The prerequisite for the hall of fame is not that you play a bunch of games because legitimately that is the only thing that he has going for him. He was never an elite goal scorer, point producer, consideration for major awards, etc. The only reason for him to make the hall of fame is that he played a lot of games.
You can say he's a lock, and you are probably right. But what makes him a lock besides games played?

If Williams is even considered Marleau has to be a lock....
Right?</div></div>
Marleau is most likely getting in but he shouldn't. He was never an elite player at all, not even close and he hasn't won anything. The only reason he'll get in is because he played for a billion years which isn't really a good reason

The truly funny part is that if they replaced him with a cheaper league average goalie (always very easy to find) the extra cap space helps them win even more
His career value is still solid at best, it's not rocket science, he had one awesome season and that's it, he's like the 200th most valuable player of the 2010s</div></div>

His best season had him 3rd on his team in points (for that team) behind Thornton who was traded and only played 58 games for the Sharks and Cheechoo who well is cheechoo lol

Literally none of those players is making the hhof besides the two that should be in Mogilny and Turgeon.
It's not that it's holding it to such high standards, it's that Williams was never close to that standard. Like at least Heatley, Cheechoo, Spezza, Lecavalier, Staal, etc were elite NHL Players for a period of time.

I mean it's cool but me saying that Williams isn't HHOF material would be perceived as "Kings hate" when I'm just being real. I don't really care about what teams players play on, just making an accurate assessment. Notice I didn't try to include Seabrook, Sharp, Crawford, Panarin as "Future HHOF" when none of them are even close except maybe Panarin depending on how his career plays out.
