continuing for a cup

If he asks for a trade that’s one thing but I don’t see him as the type to request a trade. He’s been in Chicago his entire career and created a hall of fame career filled with success

I’m not arguing with the value but Keith is a hawk for life most likely and I’d rather have him retire with us

I know that they arevery good pieces and I’m not even saying the value is that far off, I just think that it will require a top end talent like Laf, Kakko, or Fox. I also completely understand NY not wanting to trade any of them which is why I can’t see Florida agreeing.
It’s a bad idea to trade a player like Barkov unless it’s an insane return or he’s too expensive.

Barkov at TDL if Panthers Crash
I’d say that you added very solid pieces but i think the trade would have to include Kakko, Laf, or Fox because of how young Barkov is. Ultimately, I’d think that the Rangers would be better off not making this trade

Patty Kane
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>p1015983</b></div><div>Why would Habs give up all that youth for an aging player on the decline</div></div>
I can totally understand Montreal not wanting to give up their youth and building from within.
But, I wouldn't describe Kane as "on the decline". That's really not fair considering his production has only increased with age.
Aging curves are not always linear and Kane's style of play is the prototypical example of someone who can produce effectively at a older age.

Patty Kane
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ChiHawk</b></div><div>No it's not. Tatar is whatever...guy is turning 30 so doesn't fit our rebuild. Not a fan of Kotkaniemi, he's never going to live up to his draft position IMO and will be a 2nd C at best. Don't need another midget on our team in Caufield although I do like him. So basically this is Caufield, Kotkaniemi and a 2nd for Kane at $5M retained....that's crazy and will never happen. If you want Kane, it's going to have to include a 1st rounder, Romanav, and then some and Hawks will never retain more then $3M on Kane at most.</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jexus</b></div><div>Really? This is a good deal for Chicago.</div></div>
I think the problem with Kane is that no one is willing to give up the assets for a fair trade. Like realistically if Kane is being traded with 50% retention and a cap dump is coming back, he should bring back an absolute haul. 50% retention is a lot for someone of his caliber who is arguably outperforming his contract already.
A lot of people on here don't see the value in Kane and that derives from most of them not actually watching him play and just seeing his age. It doesn't matter what his workout routine is or how dedicated he is or whether his game is mental or physical. Hawks fans see another St Louis career which is completely reasonable considering Kane has gotten much better after the "traditional prime years". It really would be unfair for any team to trade what some are proposing for a 31+ career of St Louis'.
Honestly, I don't mind either way because if we trade him it helps us rebuild so that we can resign him after his contract is over. Also giving me a little playoff excitement haha. And I'm totally ok with no trading him.
At the end of the day, people can bring up age but his numbers don't lie and getting that sort of production at ~5M is absurd.

Kane Trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ryminister_27</b></div><div>This deal saves Vegas $1.75M in cap space which they'll need to sign a backup and a centre because you're taking their 3C. Not to mention that Vegas said they wouldn't move a 1st to move Fleury, they're not gonna move 2 1st's and their top 2 prospects to do it and save very little cap room.
Not to mention, Kane ISN'T worth 2 top prospects and a 1st. Hawks fans need to stop living from 2015. It was almost 6 years ago.
Garbage offer.</div></div>
Thank you for the comment, I appreciate your stance and will leave it at us agreeing to disagree :)

I don’t think that’s fair. The value here is reasonable for a win now team like Vegas. MAF would cost a 1st and a 2nd at least at the full 7M cap hit and Kane at 5.25M for three years is imo worth that price. I chose Vegas cuz i feel like it makes sense because they are in full win now mode and Kane could push them over the top

I feel like this isn't enough. But only because I would think that the Sabres would be an easy playoff team with the additions that they made and adding Cirelli. So the 1st would likely be late.
Mittelstadt unfortunately doesn't have that value yet

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hawkisles</b></div><div>The assets needed to move Boychuk would make this deal impossible.
True, the picks will be late, but that’s generally how trading to a contender works. And Wahlstrom is already a damn good prospect who could, maybe not replace Kane in the long term, but fill a Top 6 RW slot down the road. Would the Hawks want another prospect? I’d say the Isles could add Wilde, Bellows, Iskhakov, someone like that, but any more than that.</div></div>
What would cost to get rid of Boychuk?
