I think VAN would be fine adding a prospect like McDonough to put the deal over the top.

Next season after getting Toffoli at the 2024 deadline
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BrodeurBro30</b></div><div>Any reason why Elias Lindholm isn’t back? You guys paid a lot to acquire him and he has connections to Rutherford.</div></div>
Purely cap reasons. If they can bring him back at a reasonable rate I'd be fine with it, but I don't want the team spending huge money on him.

If someone wants to pay him Horvat money he's gone pretty much. I do think something around Kadri he could be re-signed. But not if we are bringing Toffoli in other issue is we keep making our defense worse which doesn't make sense. Unless the front office is happy with Wolanin or Hirose (eventhough I do think D-Petey will convert to NA game pretty fast still will need sometime to get used to it). Plus I don't think they want Podkolzin on the 4th line as that was what caused his confidence issue to begin with.

As much as I would love a bidding war…there are a lot of wingers available. If we got a 1st alone, or decent young player and mid-pick, I’d be happy.

If the deal can be done without retention straight up for the 2025 1st that would be preferable for VAN, assuming they can LTIR Myers until the playoffs.

Perry plus moves
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BrodeurBro30</b></div><div>It’s tough to make a competitive offer as Edmonton because they have the worst prospect barn in the league and the young talent isn’t inspiring. Blackhawks are going to target Holloway (C/LW) and Akey (RD) as they have the most promise. Also, in general, most teams don’t use two retention slots in one trade so it needs to be a slam dunk return for Chicago in order to justify that.</div></div>
Fair enough

If fitz has a guy he likes. Take him, if not use the pick to go for a position of need. Either defense or goalie

Depends on who the team is. If they don’t have a player like that on the roster I’m not gonna take a worse return to look for something specific
I’m not saying pick someone with the 1st.
Look at what Washington did with turning Orlov into a 1st into Sandin
Or Vancouver turning Horvat into a 1st into hronek
Picks are very liquid

I still firmly believe we can get a 1st or 1st equivalent for Toffoli. His underlying numbers are still fantastic and he’s still a very very good player. He just plays a bit slow for jersey

Not sure I see Holtz, McLeod, Bratt working out. Bratt should be top-6 with Hughes or Hischier.
I like Meier with McLeod. So my recommendation would be to simply switch Meier and Bratt here.

there will be injuries and he will get his chance. if he is good enough, they might dress him for the playoff too.

While the extra slide year is nice and all...its really about his development as a player. He is still a 19-year old kid, hasn't earned the right to make a stink about it. I think the veteran guys would be more peeved if Nemec stood up and demanded to be on roster. Gotta earn your stripes, kid.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BrodeurBro30</b></div><div>I think he can succeed in a Calen Addison role where he quarterbacks a power play and plays sheltered third pair minutes. One team that should definitely put a claim is the Isles, they need power play help. Also, the ink has officially dried in red, Devils won the trade. Shutdown defenseman are very expensive (Ekholm, Chiarot come to mind recently) and that the Devils didn’t need to part with a 1st round pick is very tidy business.</div></div>
