Past elites still in the NHL

Not sure Vlasic was ever 'elite;'...nor Carter or Voracek</div></div>
Carter did have a 46 goals 84 point season 1x... I agree though not really elite, but he does have a few cups.
Also, Tavares is not really past his elite seasons...EK65 just had the best season of his career.

hey buddy, you need to find a way to put value in what <em>you do</em> and your own self-worth... creating good relationships with your parents/finding a mentor will help you to stay positive and see the good side of things when they come up. hopefully, you won't feel empty. Hockey is fun, and definitely good exercise but if your buddy isn't going to go pro he might end up benefiting from having extra time to focus on things that will change his life in the future.
If he is your childhood friend I can see why it would suck he is possibly done, but also I am sure you can see why and the benefit that he might get from moving on.
and if he is a hockey player which somehow i seemed to overlook then he is doing it to be with his family and he is done beating up his body celebrate his career and forget about the sad parts. as hard as that can be.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>aadoyle</b></div><div>CGY needs to sit and think about the remainder of this season as from what I have seen they are missing something to truly be competitive. That is a legit superstar center.
Now there is also Markstrom but thats a different manner
If a superstar like we saw with Eichel becomes available they should look into acquiring said player but rn I dont see anyone
So then we lean towards path 2 retool/build
That may be the path Flames should take
Sell Lindholm and Hanafin for a haul then get what you can for pending UFA'S like Zadorov and Tanev</div></div>
I thought Calgary fans where glad they got Hubby and Weegar instead of Eichel for Tkachuk. They where so sure to let us buffalo fans know that he wasn't that good.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hurricanes_WPG</b></div><div>I think the funniest possibility was that Pinto was betting on the length, date, or amount of his own contract.
It has to have been NHL-related though, even if it wasn't specifically on games. Otherwise, half a season for something that isn't in the CBA (the CBA's only mention of "Gambling" prohibits betting on NHL games but it isn't mentioned otherwise) and that he's accepting without appeal would be ridiculous.</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Turbo</b></div><div>It seems to be the popular theory but reports are the investigation came as a result of his betting account getting flagged. I don't think him giving inside info to anyone would cause his own account to get flagged.</div></div>
Illegal hits are often a regrettable split-second decision that players often immediately regret.
Gambling by a player is a willful, premeditated, and deceitful act that means to undermine the integrity of the sport.
The last instance of NHL gambling resulted in lifetime bans for the offenders. He's lucky he got off with only 41 games.
From the initial reports I read, it doesn't sound like actually gambled himself, but that there were "irregularities surrounding his activities." I suspect he provided insider information to someone in order to help influence their bet, or something similar. NHL players are allowed to gamble on non-NHL games.
This was a post in the forum somewhere else. really well put.

Buffalo's 3 first rounders are confusing. Kulich didn't make the NHL, Ostlund has been good but still isn't amazing yet, and Savoie who has been better than all of them this year and is going to play in the NHL somehow drops below all of those players? I would have Savoie up there with Bystedt and Kasper.

Sure, but Montour is also underpaid and that was a breakout season, saying one player is criminally underpaid would also mean that for the last 4/5 years every player making over 7m was over paid because MacKinnon only made 6.4m
Go to NHL.com click stats, go to points per 60 and then sort by 50 games player. Pretty easy actually to get that stat.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MrAicrow2009</b></div><div>Are you sure this can last? Skinner might have 2 bad seasons in a row </div></div>
That's true, but he hasn't been this good before either, he clearly has taken a massive step forward and it's because of consistency within the organization and the coaching staff. Before this Skinner had 3 coaches in 3 years and was constantly getting played on the 4th line with 4th line minutes for no reason. I would bet on the consistency of coaching staff being the reason lol. Last year Skinner was only behind Nathan MacKinnon in points per 60 minutes at 5v5.
On the Samuelsson debate he had 20 points in 100 games to start his career, and plays shut down minutes. Last year he was on pace for 30 points over the year. Which is very similar to someone like Ekholm or Weegar did.
I respect your efforts here though, each fan will have their own opinions so definitely don't change just because of me...just some thoughts I am thinking with the buffalo players.

If/when it gets to the point where we are paying guys so much that we have to make tough choices- then that’ll actually be a good thing- bc we’ll have so many guys playing at a high level that we’ll be one of the best teams in the league
We have an exciting young team
Stop worrying & enjoy the ride</div></div>
I'm not worried, I more was just analyzing the way we are growing and was trying to think about the future in that way. Wondering which players are going to become expendable and who we can move for the most needed position imo, which is the RD position. I am thinking because of how quick Bensons growth has been and his ceiling, Savoie, Kulich, or Ostlund will end up being the major pieces that become used to grow the team.
This is the point of ACGMs, not to be realistic or exactly follow what is going to happen but this is to project the future and have fun with it.

I think what I was going for here was the worst-case situation, I definitely think they give Peterka, Levi, and Krebs bridge deals. Quinn, they might lock up long-term but he would have to come back and finish the year at a ppg pace, OR if we make the playoffs lead the team in scoring in the playoffs.
I think they will lock up Benson long-term like power if he continues at his current pace of development, probably something like Boldy for number. Tuch will want 8+ for 8 years I imagine, especially in the cap jumps. Savoie and Kulich could probably get one lower-cost deal, somewhere between 1-2.5m for 1-3 years.

Using the 9.98% of the cap when he signed that deal, that would make it $8,752,460 AAV (assuming next year is at $87,700,000 as per Elliotte Friedman).
JT Miller was 9.58%
Suzuki was 9.66%
Scheifele will be 9.69%.
R. Thomas was 9.73%
Hertl 9.98%
Horvat and Dubois were 10.18%
Larkin was 10.55%
Aho will be 11.12%
So, Lindholm is easily going to be around $8,770,000 at a minimum.</div></div>
What was Cozens or Thompson? They are both close.

This contract is very comparable to Eichel or Subbans 10m and 9m contracts in their time. Now i would consider Eichels contract a steal and back then it wasn't ever really that bad....i think its actually very fair for Dahlin as well as for the sabres. with the cap going up it will benefit us a lot.
