For sure. But knowing Barry they both won't stay. Maybe with Beau out but once hes back no way

Changing The Lineup
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Isles777</b></div><div>why are you taking bellows out, he was arguably our best forward against WSH</div></div>
because Barry has to play Johnson Leo or Dal Colle. I think Whalstrom deserves some time. So I kept Bellows down and put in dal colle, the only guy yet to play of those 3 aforementioned.

If the isles lose 3 straight then I would love to see them try something like this out. Although I am a fan of Lee and Barzy together

Obviously depending on how he does over the next 7 years I worry about that coming out of prime overpayment. I'm definitely overthinking it

Yeah I realize it’s a bridge deal you are suggesting but I feel Barzal and his agent are looking for 7 or 8 year deal.</div></div>
The reason I don't think that is true is because right now the isles only have 4M in cap. They could go over and then put Boychuk on LTIR before the season starts but I don't think Lou would want to put them in a situation like that barring any potential complications. If boychuk isn't on LTIR now after saying he can never play ever again I wonder why. I'm also not sure if Barzy wants a 7/8 year deal with the flat cap. Sign a bridge contract and max out when he can put the price through the roof, that's what I'd do but I'm trash at hockey lmao

The inevitable
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ForsbergForVezina</b></div><div>If it's Ho-Sang or Bellows they're "rushing," I think we probably have much different definitions of that word haha. I'll take the young guy poison any day, as long as they aren't a complete disaster defensively.
As for Barzal, yeah it's hard to see where he's going to end up. My guess from what has been speculated is that Ladd will go to LTIR, which will give us around $9.5 million to play with, which should be enough to keep him around. I've been using $8.250 MM x 6 in the ACGMs I've made recently. It's around what Aho took (OS, I know but I think that was about what he was worth anyways) and then subtracted a little off because Covid. Idk what the term would be but 6 years seems pretty agreeable, makes him a UFA in the middle of his prime. Honestly, it's more likely we see a bridge deal probably, as Barzal probably gets to make more money that way, but I just can't see him getting much more than $8 million when guys like Laine, Point, Tkachuk, DeBrincat, Werenski and McAvoy all got way, way less for 2-3 years.</div></div>
I would doubt we ever see Ho Sang in an isles uni ever again and I would love to see Bellows played more often but the front office just doesn't seem very high on him. That's why I think there may be some younger kid who is "rushed" in the sense of Lou/Barry rather than one of those two. I have a feeling if Ladd doesn't hit LTIR and we move boychuk for less than a first it is picks plus bellows. At this rate who knows when there'll even be another season so no need to rush i guess?

The inevitable
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ForsbergForVezina</b></div><div>At that price, we better get Barzal for longer than 3 years. Imo a bridge deal should be no more than like $8 million, anything more should be at least 5 years, even if it does walk him to UFA.
So maybe you shave a little off his deal and then use it to sign Martin or some other bottom 6 guy and play them over Bardreau. I loved him in his call up, but he is a career AHLer. I think giving him 3rd line duties right of the bat could be risky. Worse case scenario, I say you just play Leo at 3LW and get replacement level value out of him until the TDL when you can find ways to make upgrades</div></div>
If we could do 7x9 for barzy I would lock it up now. But I can't see him at 7 and he's worth 9. For this I did slight overpayments for worse cases, which seem like the realistic cases at this point.
That 3rd line LW I think all depends on camp. Lou and Barry don't like rushing younger guys but without cap we're either going to put a young guy next to pageau or a guy who has no offensive capabilities. They pick their poison on that one. Personally I can see Leo starting but I would want to put someone with some potential scoring touch until the TDL for a better upgrade than both

If the isles could make those trades and sign serg they would've kept Toews for cheaper and signed barzy by now. The leddy trade pre FA seemed legit but he won't be moved. Boychuk is going to take 2 2nds or a first for sure, maybe more

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Abroot</b></div><div>Can get more from Tampa, try adding volkov and adding Erne
Like the NYI trade, but Isles might want a replacement which is understandable, maybe Biega
Depending on how ryan plays this trade might be a lot different and we aren't trading him anytime soon we just signed him likely traded close to or at TDL.
No need to really send vegas a second, they are getting rid of a bad contract and getting a good goalie in return. (VGK might just decline this trade all together cause they wanna keep him IDK whats going on with that situation anymore)
Zetterberg is LTIR
All in All looks good IMO</div></div>
isles would be lucky to move boychuk for that. If that was a possible trade i bet it wouldve happened

New York Islanders signed Ryan Pulock (2 Years / $5,000,000 AAV)
My guess is that Lou got the money down and Pulock got the term down. Let some horrible Snow contracts run up and extend him mid 2nd year after *potentially* Barzy, Pelech, Beau and other RFA's are resigned and Seattle has taken their guys leaving a clearer cap space for the future of the franchise.

He's not. A 4 year brings him to UFA, anything less I believe is RFA. I think they're waiting on Pulocks arbitration (prob isles so everyone can fit)

Around 3M saved by that... exactly the LK cap hit</div></div>
I think signing martin is strictly a fan pleasing/locker room move. Greene plays very well with our young guy Dobson which would be great for his development. Johnston I think is still on a contract, not sure if they would trade him but he plays a role of Martin and is younger. I agree though that Martin probably shouldn't come back unless he takes 700-800k and signing duclair isn't important but if we sign everyone and have the cap then ig why not.

Bury your contract troubles away
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Penguins21</b></div><div>I’m not doing this again..lol. But I’m sorry, your math is wrong. Mine is right.
Ladd makes 5.5M for 3 remaining yrs. that’s 5.5M x 2/3 =3.663M x 3=10.989M still owed. pro-rate that number out to 6 years and it’s 10.989M/6= 1.832M. Add the 3M signing bonus. You get 4.832M(give or take b/c for 2/3 I’m just multiplying by .67 instead of .66666667).
The same number you get putting it into the buy-out calculator. The same number he was getting back and I disagreed with b/c I didn’t know about the signing bonus due. But my math is right. Go back and look at it too. Just add in the signing bonus and it’s right.
I got 1.832M for Ladd. Plus the 3M = 4.832M(again give or take cause I’m using .67(2/3) istead of the full .66666667).</div></div>
Everyone else is not getting what you got. Idk what experience you have in financial law but it seems to be lacking

Thomas Hickey isn't a NHL caliber player anymore. No one would trade anything of value for him if he were on a league-minimum contract.</div></div>
For sure, but it doesn't cost 2 2nds to move a guy who is going to cost a team 1.5M, if buried, per in cap the next two years and can be a solid vet to bring up if injuries occur. He has playoff experience, has scored big goals in juniors and pros. I just can't see someone wanting more for him than Stall who is just as bad, maybe worse. I think Hickey and a 3rd + a B prospect does it imo

Realistic offseason
Martin is lucky to get 1M, I would pay him 800M a year if this was baseball but if you're going to try to sign Barzy for more than a bridge give that 1.75 to Barzy and lock him up for 9.5-10M per for 8 years. Love Matt and I would pay him the bag but this isn't a great market for him
