Sundqvist went for a 4th last year. Bortuzzo prob worth a 5th, Bogosian just went for a 7th. I undervalued Blais here thought a 3rd and decent prospect in Hamblin was enough but probably not. Leave him out and just Sundqvist and Bortuzzo for the picks. All depends on Blues record by deadline.

Starting to think a bit of an overpay. 3rd rounder prob gets it done too. Sharks need more picks and prospects.

Yeah, I was trying to think of something where Columbus takes the contracts and gets more picks.

Creating Cap
I think the Wahlstrom trade is fair however islanders would not be interested in trading him and with what comes back. Addison is basically Dobson and islanders rather bring back Mayfield or a similar cheaper player than him for the 3rd pairing. Islanders have been trading prospects so I don't think they'd be interested in trading for any. Also, I doubt they are even ready to move on from Wahlstrom yet. Wild most likely have to look elsewhere. They could look into other 1st rd talents that may need a fresh start with a low cap hit like they did with Sam Steel.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dannibalcorpse</b></div><div>Signings-wise - Engvall isn't taking a pay cut to stay in NY, and Mayfield isn't coming back on a second team-friendly deal like you have him doing here.
Bailey would cost more to dump than a 4th, and because of that cost I think it's better to eat the buyout penalty and keep the picks. Cal also a)isn't getting traded by Lou Lamoriello and b) isn't getting a 4th rounder as a soon-to-be 36 year old with his recent injury history.
I also don't think there's a much better team here. You've basically turned Palmieri & Dobson (at a $9.1M combined cap hit) into Debrincat and Severson ($14.1M). Simon Holmstrom doesn't really look like a 2nd line player yet, either, so any bonus you've got from turning Lee into Debrincat on line 1 really gets nerfed by turning Palmieri (and that fairly dominant Engvall-Nelson-Palms line) into Holmstrom. Roster is just too top-heavy, if anyone can match up against that top line it's going to be even harder for the middle-6 to carry this team than it has been this season.</div></div>
Great points. I agree Bailey could cost more to move. I honestly don't think Engvall can ask for much more with only two 30 point seasons in his career. I agree Mayfield can want more, I like him at 3x2.5 mil without doing these trades. Since Sorokin is turning into a 60 game starter under Lambert. Could not sign Nedelijkovic and sign a guy like Zach Fucale to around league min and hope for a Phoenix Copley situation as a backup then give Mayfield more money. I truly believe in Simon Holmstrom as a player. Seems to have great poise with the puck and a great skater so thought him with Engvall and Nelson could have chemistry. I think in this situation every line has enough two-way game and scoring ability.

How you described Dobson is why the islanders wouldn’t give him up unless the package was an absurd overpay .this trade makes the isles worse</div></div>
In this situation the trade involves them signings Severson, very similar player. Dobson obviously has more upside but grabbing a high scoring winger and filling Dobsons void doesn't necessarily make them worse. Its Debrincat and Severson or Dobson and Palmieri

I feel like the Sens are still looking for another defensemen. The team wasnt enough this year to make playoffs. May not have the cap to upgrade since they must pay Debrincat 9 mil with QO. Dobson and Palmieri fit there roster composition while carrying 9 mil cap hit. However if Thomson and Bernard-Docker are ready for NHL than most likely never mind.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>wojohawk</b></div><div>Zaitsev 4.5 in salary and cap for a year just netted the Hawks #44 OA and a future 4th rounder. Bailey is a half million more in cap and a million less in salary to take on which the way I do math is at the very least in the same ball park which a 4th is not. Isles hold #50 OA which would be the minimum ask for me. I would settle for a future 2nd, but probably want something like the future 4th they got in the Zaitsev deal.
The alternative is the Isles can shop Bailey and the 4th to one of the other less than a handful of teams with cap space and the resourse to basically buy a draft pick and the Hawks can use their cash and cap for better assets.</div></div>
I can agree that it may cost more to move, however I figured Chicago may look for guys with 1 year left with some cap hit to ensure they hit the cap floor. It wont be very desirable for FAs to sign there this summer. Also Bailey is still somewhat serviceable, if he gets decent minutes I can see him putting up decent points to be a trade asset for Chicago to move at the 2024 deadline for another draft pick while retaining salary.

Everyone knows Isles are against the cap, even to move a good player, you will not get the return you think because Isles have no leverage (look at what Columbus had to do with BJORKSTRAND). On top of that, most teams accepting cap are not trying to get better. In this example, ARI are a team looking to tank. They are not looking at the trade to get better, they are taking the trade because they have what is most valuable: cap space.</div></div>
right bjorkstrand was traded for 3rd and 4th. I agree some teams may not be "looking to get better" but they also need enough NHL contracts for the season and a competitive team for fans, revenue, developing players, franchise culture. Bailey would be great for both developing teams and contenders honestly. Every team except ARI that's "looking to tank" has spent money on NHL caliber free agents this offseason.

People in the tread undervaluing Bailey. IK if isles want to bring in Kadri they have to move a bigger contract but this guy isn't a cap dump (44 points last year). Very good middle 6 forward and proven playoff player as well. His contract expires in 2 years, not a crazy commitment. If anything he is moved for a later round pick to bring in Kadri.

Colorado probably not interested in that trade. I feel like they'd rather try to bring Kadri back or cheaper UFA options like Stastny.
