It’s not the production that im concerned about. Debrincat was a liability at even strength.
How you described Dobson is why the islanders wouldn’t give him up unless the package was an absurd overpay .this trade makes the isles worse
For sure. I guess I didn't watch enough of OTT this season to pass that kind of judgement and agree with you that he was "a liability". From what I did watch of OTT and what I gathered from OTT fans on the internet, it didn't seem like that was his fault. In CHI, he did everything from PP to PK, forechecking to backchecking, scoring and defense, throwing checks and sticking up for teammates. So, considering scoring is the biggest part of his game, he was pretty good at everything else too. I think what we saw from OTT was defensive, goaltending, and coaching deficiencies being exposed, as well as them being a very young team. And what we saw from Cat, specifically, was mismanagement of his skillset, a lack of chemistry, and a multitude of other obvious factors effecting his play. Not to mention, OTT was also missing their first line possession driving center the entire season, which, yeah luckily they had Stutzle, but one guy doesn't make up for all of that.
Either way, I'm not saying either team should do it. I'm saying they aren't going to give up on Cat this soon after what they paid for him. It would take a big overpayment, and Dobson probably wouldn't get it done, IMO.
