Intriguing trade proposal, considering the cap dump.

Both of these trades are rough. You’re not getting a young, 50-pt upside center, with term for Pyatt and the LAK isn’t remotely realistic. At best Vilardi is a good prospect that hasn’t proven himself at the NHL level. CAR is under enormous pressure this year to make the playoffs and taking LA’s spare parts definitely won’t fly.

I’m not disputing that it’s a much better city but I think he’d prefer the NYR/NJD/NYI type of a city.

I think he wants to go home (or be closer) but there really isn’t room in Toronto. Buffalo could be a nice consolation prize, especially going into a contract year on Eichel’s wing.

There is very little point in this trade because if Panarin won’t sign in Columbus, he probably won’t sign in Carolina.

This is exactly why this trade isn’t viable.

Rutta is not worth a second, and that's too much for Rask,
CAR winning every trade here by a wide margin</div></div>
I disagree with you on Rask. His ceiling is that of a 2C and would be MTL’s best center. He has term and trading him for a 3RW and a dump in Benn is worth a 2Rd pick.
Also, I think many fans over value draft picks. A 2Rd pick only has a 50/50 chance of playing in the NHL and a bottom half 1Rd pick only has a 50/50 chance of playing 100 career games. Rutta has already proven that he’s a solid NHL’r, so I don’t know,if I’d classify that as a reach.

Latest Rumors, DAL-DET
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Shifttee</b></div><div>Heard this on the radio driving home, apparently DAL pushing harder for Skinner. CAR looked to be asking for a first, prospect (I assumed Gaurianov) and a bottom 6 guy (I just Guessed at Pitlick). Geekie wasn't mentioned but I tossed him in anyway.
On Faulk, (they said just speculating) that DET return could be AA and a pick (I just guessed at a 3rd)
For what it is worth they said they don't believe Rask would be moved even though his name has popped up in rumors</div></div>
Why are you owing in Geekie? This is his first pro season, I might look t a prospect that is a title longe in the tooth. Faulk probably gets a 2Rd vs. a 3Rd out of that deal.

Hmmmmmm, that’s just a wee bit generous for Duchene. No way that’s happening. 1Rd + Fox on a rental trade and maybe another prospect on an extension. You’re offering Matthews, Schifele, Barkley type of return.

EDM and MTL trades
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OilcountryGM</b></div><div>This is whats being said about Justin Faulk:
Carolina has had some questionable goaltending over the years (save 2013 and 2015). If they just received average goaltending over this timeframe, they would have been about 75 goals better – and that’s substantial.
But Faulk’s numbers are even worse. Faulk’s on-ice save percentage is 90.7. That means that in the minutes Faulk has been on the ice, Carolina is 52 goals worse than league average and 27 goals worse than what Carolina could have reasonably expected with their goaltending talent.
About that 90.7 save percentage: It’s the worst number of any defender in the past six years, true by a considerable margin
Edmonton is not giving up a 1st for him.</div></div>
I’m not debating that he had a horrible year, on both sides of the puck. But he is a 26 RHD, (e-time all star and Olympian) that scores more goals than the average off defenseman in the league. That has a lot of value in the NHL. Now you might not like the trade but we both know that there are GMs willing to pay it. He’s certainly due a bounce back year and he and Sekera have enormous chemistry. Pairing them together again would likely restart both of their careers.
