Sometimes, trading away the big asset (lehner) for a king’s ransom is what’s best long term even when it hurts short term. Lehner can be our long term goalie, Crawford can't.

Keeping both is dumb. They're both pending UFA's and one of them will go anyways. You gotta get something for at least 1 of them. Especially with Chicago in need of a retool

A Lehner trade should only happen if Bowman doesn't think he's able to resign him

Probably ARZ would be one of the least affected teams by this because of their play style... would suck but not as bad as most

Weird that a few of these teams I never really thought of as extremely deep that really still look like a decent team without their top 2

Nobody wants Krys or Quenneville. De Haan is LTIR and is unknown if he’ll return. Caggiula is a solid piece to this team and hawks are retooling and need their 1st round pick. They don’t need to give up 5 pieces for Mantha.

I’d say just do RNH for Strome 1 for 1 or RNH + 1st next year for debrincat+

Not sure why the Hawks would even want Galchenyuk as he seems to wear out his welcome with every team he plays for very quickly.

That Edmonton trade though is.... somthing. Very creative. I don't know if you get Broberg RNH and a 1st from a team that doesn't know if they'll get playoff hockey, it's a creative idea for sure.</div></div>
Think you are right that Carolina would not want to give up the 1rst round draft pick as too much value given up.

Because Strome and Cat are two peas in a pod and should reunite with their Erie Otter buddy McDavid.

I think alot of these trades make sense and like the idea of getting on with the rebuild and acquiring lots of draft picks. I also think it it is wise to move on from Stome and Nylander now while they still have value as not sure if they have much more upside.

I'm a little confused, isn't Gaudreau a Top 10 LW in the league on a top 10 contract. He's a Hart level player. I'd expect Gaudreau for Debrusk

I was ridiculed on another site but knew the team would suffer as a result. A lot has snowballed negatively since. BTW, I was against the AAV, not keeping 88&19.</div></div>
Ya know, I get the whole “loyalty signing” label attached to seabrook and that he “earned” his 6.875 per, but that doesn’t mean the term had to be so severe. That’s what crushed me at the time. In all actuality, I thought Kane and toews also did the team a great disservice with their extensions. More toews than Kane obviously given how he’s playing.
Having said that, if you can get great assets at this point by selling wholesale, what does this team have to lose anymore? Bowman’s legacy in the eyes of hawks fans is irreversibly dented in spite of the cups. Either sell or get walking Stan. The funny thing is that in spite of the red wings being historically awful this year, I trust Stevie Y to turn that team around cuz he has a plan. Can’t say I trust Stan with that responsibility.

Regardless of cap recapture, I would start by asking Duncan Keith to waive his NMC, not necessarily to the Leaves. (If he has to stay, I would drop him to the 3rd pairing even though he prolly still is their "number one defenseman". They aren't winning with him getting the most TOI so why not go a different route?). Sorry for the hijack.

Selling at TDL
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>HatterTParty</b></div><div>Okay, with that logic, how do solve the issue? Odds are, you need to get rid a player or two to solve the cap issue. That means you need three forwards and two dmen potentially.
What I’m saying specifically is that the team hasn’t focused on its long term outlook to solving problems. Cap issues are the problem? Agreed, but to solve it, you need to suffer for some time. Seabrook makes contract will cost at least an unprotected 1st to get rid of. Or you keep him, then how do you the problem? Trade toews or Kane and 10.5 mil? Nope, that’s going way backwards.
So I’ll ask this, is it really that bad to have a rebuild? With due respect, bowman already ****ed this team. We had our dynasty and we even had a chance to continue it without going into a down period. Unfortunately, bowman messed it up with bad contracts and even worse trades.</div></div>
I do agree last offseason Bowman put this team in the wrong direction. The Shaw trade was brutal by giving up a 2nd and 3rd rounder when we could have signed someone like Donskoi or Dzingel for free. Nylander has not worked out like everyone hoped but he is still young. I do not know why we traded for Maatta if we were going to get de Haan too. If the cap doesn't rise a lot and not much is moved this team will be stuck being mediocre. If say, Maatta and Smith are moved maybe they'll be able to bring in a player or two who knows. I take back my comment because it is not that realistic. If they had cap space, that would be a different story.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Canucks_Hawkey</b></div><div>These are some interesting deals. From a Hawks perspective these arn't bad and the other teams get good value too imo. Only gripe I have is dealing Kampy away with Gus for a mere 1st. Maybe a 1st and a 5th and you have good value for the Hawks side.</div></div>
Right now Vegas projects to have the 16th pick over all. Given the purported depth of talent in the 2020 draft, I think that pick may not be traded. Bear in mind that Matthew Barzal and Jacob Chychrun were 16th overall picks in 2015 and 2016, respectively. Vegas has two second round and two third round picks, perhaps some combination of those might be a suitable return for Gustafsson and Kampf.
