I like Bussi, but I also think Boston does well with finding/developing goaltenders. They should make this trade. Well done!

Swayman
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TathanOTS</b></div><div>Lot of talk here about the 1st not being enough.
If the devils trade san Jose to get back their second it would cost what? Their third and next year's second?
With our 2nd back for the amount of money you are offering in that contract to Swayman after you get his rights you could probably just offer sheet Swayman, Samsonov, or Gustavsson.
Swayman would be the hardest to get. They might match and pray Frederic doesn't win much in arbitration. The Wild don't have that much and leafs have negative that much money. They have to make a trade already and having to match that offer sheet would put them in a very low leverage position.
I'm also not a fan of the 22 man roster but that is besides the point.</div></div>
I could be wrong, but because Swayman is going to arbitration, pretty sure he can't sign an offer sheet.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JayTea</b></div><div>Hartman is on an expiring contract, so it might make sense to move him if you can't resign him and the deal makes sense. That would be more of a deadline decision if they're either out of it or generally not playing well.
Ek is signed long term, is still showing signs of improvement each year, and is a steal for what he brings to the Wild. They wouldn't consider trading him.</div></div>
I didn't realize it was expiring, that makes way more sense. Thanks for the info.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Caerii</b></div><div>Minnesota hangs up laughing hysterically</div></div>
Fair enough. The reason I did this was because I saw an ACGM of Hartman, Calen Addison, and a 2nd for Carlo. As I'm sure you can tell, I don't watch Wild games. I thought I saw that Hartman plays with Kaprizov and is on a much cheaper contract, so I assumed they wouldn't want to move him.

For sure, I was just trying to mix things up. A young top 4 shutdown RD on an affordable long-term contract is not something you easily replace.

Dobson would be an ideal replacement for Carlo, with his size and age. I admittedly don't watch Islanders games and severely underestimated his worth. My bad. I thought a top 6 winger and first would be enough, clearly that's no the case, haha. Thanks for your input.

I agree that's almost 100% the case, yes. I saw a report saying Arizona was possibly interested and they have a lot of picks, so I wanted to try something different from the Penguins or Kings. Appreciate the feedback.

BOS next szn
I think you did a really good job with this, overall.
The Calgary trade is interesting, Depends on what direction they're taking, though. If they're retooling, I think it's a generous package; if they're rebuilding, they'd probably only be interested in Lohrei. That being said, I think it's a fair trade for both teams.
I wonder how the Kings value Turcotte. Maybe they don't want to sell low and think he'll improve, or maybe they try to move him before he has basically no value. Also, I've been curious as to why the Kings wouldn't just trade Arvidsson or whomever to acquire assets before making a trade like this. What are your thoughts?
Overall, well done!

Hanafin Comes Home
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>princessTom</b></div><div>Id rather just get this years 1st from PIT along w like DeSmith or some other unnecessary cap, but ik they wont move that
That is alot to give up to CGY, how about Grz + Freddy + Harrison for Hanafin? or Grz + JD for Hanafin? something like that. Lysell + 1st + 2 roster players + is a lot and CGY has no cap space
I doubt SEA would make that trade 1 for 1, but obv favours BOS</div></div>
I would definitely do the Pitt trade w/DeSmith + 1st, but I'm almost certain Dubas wouldn't move this year's first according to his presser.
And the more I think about the Hanafin situation, the more unsure I am. I think Gryz and JD is too much. Maybe Gryz, Frederic, and Harrison, but I bet they'll be offered a 1st and take that deal. Hanafin is a Mass native, went to college in Mass, and the Bruins tried to draft him, so he knows he's wanted. It would be great if he would just sign with us next offseason, but I'm not sure if we'll be lucky enough for that to happen.
Geekie was omitted in some Seattle ACGMs and I've seen them trading for Forbort, so I just combined the two. Definitely don't disagree Boston would be winning that trade.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>pensburgh571</b></div><div>It may be "sunk cost fallacy" but the penguins gave up a young top-4 dman on a great contract to get smith. And the fact that Dubas said yesterday he wants to focus on using more youth definitely indicates he wants to use Smith and POJ more.
I understand that Ullmark may win the vezina but goalies really don't get a decent return. I mean, MAF won the vezina and that offseaon he was traded for literally nothing lol. And we just watched vegas win the cup with a goalie who was number 5 on their depth chart.
I just don't see the pens and bruins as good trade partners. The bruins (rightfully so) will want to maximize their return and the penguins aren't going to help a very heated rival out of cap hell. Especially with dubas saying he wanted to weaponize cap space</div></div>
Makes a lot of sense, thanks for your thoughts.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>pensburgh571</b></div><div>In his presser yesterday Dubas specifically said he was going to weaponize cap space . Not give up premium assets to help a heated rival out of cap hell.
Drop the first or drop Smith and maybe you have a deal. Otherwise they aren't giving up two premium assets just to help a rival.
Hall is a shell of his former self and Ullmark has had one really good season. No point in taking on 11 million in cap AND giving up premium assets to a rival for two players that don't move the needle. Especially considering your coach doesn't even trust ullmark after the season he had.</div></div>
I didn't realize anyone considered Smith a "premium asset", I thought I had seen people trading him for cheap; I'll take him out. Ullmark has been a solid goalie in his career and just had a Vezina Trophy-winning season. Where did you hear that Monty doesn't trust Ullmark? As for Hall, he played on the third line because of the incredible depth the Bruins had this past season. I would bet you big money he puts up more points on a line with Pasta or Marchand. He's a very effective player and was easily one of the Bruins best players in the playoffs. If the Penguins would take Ullmark alone for their '24 1st, I would do that and re-work the Calgary deal. I'd love to keep Hall as our second line winger if they can make the money work. Thanks for your input, it's nice to learn from other fan bases.
