Should they just sell
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Fylster</b></div><div>elaborate?</div></div>
- Nelson at 32 does not fit the Bruins timeline
- Bruins don't give up a cost-controlled Lysell who should be seeing some NHL action this year and be a full-time NHLer next season for Nelson
- Bruins don't have many picks, don't see them viewing Nelson as the guy for their future
- Grz hasn't been great this year but this leaves the Bruins short on D - not sure Lohrei is ready for a full-time role yet
- Same package or less could likely get Elias Lindholm... probably a better target for the Bruins

That was my thought! Boston has a knack for finding stud betminders either through the draft or Europeans FA or in NHL’s FA, and a backup netminder shouldn’t be more valued than a top 9 C, unless Boston is looking to move Swayman and make Bussi the Heir

One More Before Free Agency
Too much for Duchene and OEL, not enough for Bergeron and if Ullmark goes, he’s going to a contender for less picks and possibly a prospect. LA if they clear cap, Carolina if they don’t sign Anderson.

BOS next szn
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CaptainBergeron</b></div><div>I think you did a really good job with this, overall.
The Calgary trade is interesting, Depends on what direction they're taking, though. If they're retooling, I think it's a generous package; if they're rebuilding, they'd probably only be interested in Lohrei. That being said, I think it's a fair trade for both teams.
I wonder how the Kings value Turcotte. Maybe they don't want to sell low and think he'll improve, or maybe they try to move him before he has basically no value. Also, I've been curious as to why the Kings wouldn't just trade Arvidsson or whomever to acquire assets before making a trade like this. What are your thoughts?
Overall, well done!</div></div>
Tried to make the CGY deal realisitic with intriguing pieces going back, could replace Freddy w Harrison/Beecher or something if it means CGYs rebuilding
Ive seen some kings fans say theyre not giving up on him and others say hes a bust/cant stay healthy and they have plenty of young Forwards/Centres in their system so they could spare him. I picked Arvidsson because he helps balance the money flux in the trade and most Kings fans would rather depart w him over Iafallo/Moore/Vilardi. Plus hes a right shot and Boston has a surplus of Left shot wingers if they would choose to keep him.
All these trades could be modified slightly with each piece, these were just some initial thoughts
Thanks for the feedback and kind words, appreciate it!

Hanafin Comes Home
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CaptainBergeron</b></div><div>I would definitely do the Pitt trade w/DeSmith + 1st, but I'm almost certain Dubas wouldn't move this year's first according to his presser.
And the more I think about the Hanafin situation, the more unsure I am. I think Gryz and JD is too much. Maybe Gryz, Frederic, and Harrison, but I bet they'll be offered a 1st and take that deal. Hanafin is a Mass native, went to college in Mass, and the Bruins tried to draft him, so he knows he's wanted. It would be great if he would just sign with us next offseason, but I'm not sure if we'll be lucky enough for that to happen.
Geekie was omitted in some Seattle ACGMs and I've seen them trading for Forbort, so I just combined the two. Definitely don't disagree Boston would be winning that trade.</div></div>
Grz i view as a replacement (but he is a slight downgrade) so anything you add ontop of him would be to compensate the "downgrade". Both Hanafin and Grz are on last year of deals, the only problem would be outbidding other teams, cuz BOS has limited assets, but he would be such a good fit in Boston
Ill gladly swap Geekie for Forbort, even throw in a 6th or 7th

Id rather just get this years 1st from PIT along w like DeSmith or some other unnecessary cap, but ik they wont move that
That is alot to give up to CGY, how about Grz + Freddy + Harrison for Hanafin? or Grz + JD for Hanafin? something like that. Lysell + 1st + 2 roster players + is a lot and CGY has no cap space
I doubt SEA would make that trade 1 for 1, but obv favours BOS

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CaptainBergeron</b></div><div>I didn't realize anyone considered Smith a "premium asset", I thought I had seen people trading him for cheap; I'll take him out. Ullmark has been a solid goalie in his career and just had a Vezina Trophy-winning season. Where did you hear that Monty doesn't trust Ullmark? As for Hall, he played on the third line because of the incredible depth the Bruins had this past season. I would bet you big money he puts up more points on a line with Pasta or Marchand. He's a very effective player and was easily one of the Bruins best players in the playoffs. If the Penguins would take Ullmark alone for their '24 1st, I would do that and re-work the Calgary deal. I'd love to keep Hall as our second line winger if they can make the money work. Thanks for your input, it's nice to learn from other fan bases.</div></div>
It may be "sunk cost fallacy" but the penguins gave up a young top-4 dman on a great contract to get smith. And the fact that Dubas said yesterday he wants to focus on using more youth definitely indicates he wants to use Smith and POJ more.
I understand that Ullmark may win the vezina but goalies really don't get a decent return. I mean, MAF won the vezina and that offseaon he was traded for literally nothing lol. And we just watched vegas win the cup with a goalie who was number 5 on their depth chart.
I just don't see the pens and bruins as good trade partners. The bruins (rightfully so) will want to maximize their return and the penguins aren't going to help a very heated rival out of cap hell. Especially with dubas saying he wanted to weaponize cap space

Which FA would fit better?</div></div>
No problem. This years cap crunch really ties their hands and the UFA market is pretty underwhelming and next years is much better. IMO it would be best to just tank it out w Zacha/Coyle as 1/2C (since theyre both being paid as top 6 guys) and see what the kids in providence can do
Only exception would be if they swing big for like Linholm/Hanafin blockbuster, but i dont think they have the assets for that

I think Walsh's value is a second or third rounder but I cant see him being moved for just a pick. I think he's going to be used as an additional piece in a bigger trade

Like these trades, especially the PHI and NJD trades, simple yet helpful for Bostons cap situation (assuming Reilly, Forbort, Grz, and Clifton are all gone next year)
OEL and Dumolin arent great, but a cheap flyer on them wouldnt hurt
O'Reillys trash and not a 1C by any means, also overpayed there
other than that, this is pretty solid, nicely done

Its an interesting idea to think that maybe they'd see a change of scenery as a fix, but I'm not sure they'd d go for that now as the rebuild starts.

This is a travesty. Carlo is a massive asset in the trade market, and his cap hit isn't the one that should be moved. And WPG has no need for Forbert, especially since Stanley can be signed for a better cap hit and produce more.

No worries, this definitely isnt a bad trade for either side, I just think if BOS were to trade Ullmark, it would mostly be for cap relief + young C in return and Arvidsson and Iafallo wouldnt help with that much. Also if BOS brings in a winger like those guys, they would either have to flip them for other assets, or trade one of Hall/DeBrusk, cant have 5+ wingers making 4+ mill AAV with this years cap crunch.
You flipped Arvidsson here which is great, i wonder if he could fetch more than just a 2nd tho
