Schenn is currently negotiating with Toronto and he's looking for term and trade protection, so if he ends up in Vancouver it's probably going to be the same deal. Reilly being buried in the AHL had to do with cap more than anything.

Reilly (even if he's just traded akone for FC) and Suter could be a good pick ups but I definitely don't think this team can afford not to make significant additions this offseason. The Bailey move in particular isn't a good idea. Another lost season probably means Pettersen and then Hughes asking for out.

This years questionable move by VAN management, I think is going to be Garland for Granlund along with paying Dumba a boatload.

So Boston isn going to trade a prospect with top 4 upside to move Reilly? Not a chance. If Boston were to buyout Reilly it's a $333k cap hit for next season. Hardly worth giving up one of our better prospects.

I could see the caps going for Garland, but I doubt VAN is getting 2 3rds for him considering their cap situation. Maybe 1 3rd and a 5th.

What do you mean considering our cap situation? We have an additional $7mil in cap now without moving Garland..

Fair enough, would appear I've definitely underrated Lorei. What would be the price for Reilly?

I think they’d give you Gryz for taking Reilly. Otherwise they cut Reilly outright

That would be a significant overpay for the 11th overall pick. Maybe as a draft day deal, if someone is available that CHI really wants, they might consider something like this. But, I don't think CHI's actual front office is frothing at the mouth over moving up in the draft as much as the fans and CHI beat writers are.

Why would the Islanders entertain this when they can just buy out Josh Bailey? Even if the cost to dump him is a 2nd rounder... Jack Rathbone is not worth Dufour and a 4th rounder. Not on this planet.

All four of these trades significantly favor the Canucks. Hawks don't give up #35 to move up 8 spots. B's and Cap fans have chimed in already. Bailey takes a 2nd at most to dump. No way is Rathbone worth DuFour and a 4th.

Ideally I think they'd like to give up something like a 4th or 5th in the '24 or '25 draft.

Some team would give Boston at least a 2nd for Grz, so I don't see Boston using him to get out from Reilly.

As a Caps fan I'd love to get Garland though I imagine he's maybe just 1 3rd to get. Sounds like he could get bought out.

If VAN wanted him they could just have him for FC

I don't think garland is a buyout candidate. That was only a rumor, because it seemed like the nucks were going to try to keep OEL

Part of the main reason for the OEL buyout, was so that people like Garland and Boeser didn't need to be bought out and the Canucks wouldn't be bent over a barrel when negotiating

I don’t see Boston getting a second for Gryz unless they give a pick back. He’s worth a second, but I believe he’s one of the assets Sweeney will look to secure the cap flexibility needed. I’m ok cutting Reilly outright

I wouldn’t pay for Garland, feel there are plenty of middle 6 forward UFAs and the caps have too many middle 6 guys. We need a couple of high end top 6 guys. Someone may pay for garland tho

I'd rather buyout Reilly and deal with is $333k cap hit then move Grz for a 2nd. You've now created about $6.3 million in cap space and added a 2nd round pick to a depleted pool of draft capital. Using Grz to move Reilly, you've created $333k more in cap space but gained no draft capital.

Also saved cap space next year as well. I don’t think Gryz gets you a second, but I do think he can get you a 3rd. I’d trade Gryz and a 4th or Cole Spicer for a second rounder

Cap is also expected to increase by $4 million after next season. The $1.3 million cap that you'd have on the books for Reilly wouldn't be much easier to consume with the $4 million cap increase.

Players are expected finish paying off their escrow debt this upcoming season. This is what would cause the cap to jump up $4 million next season.

Isles aren't trading Dufour, especially as part of a cap dump.
