So you two would take the kid who is only 10 months younger playing in Liiga over the kid who at the same age was playing as the youngest player in the NHL with success?
Good logic, I guess

Its him vs his draft stock at 3rd overall. Hes not living up to that right now so you wont get that value back its a pretty simple concept</div></div>
What do you expect a 3rd overall pick to do? Let's look back, shall we?
Huberdeau 2nd year post draft: 45 points in 30 QMJHL games
Galchenyuk 2nd year post draft: 27 points in 48 NHL Games
Drouin 2nd year post draft: 32 Points in 70 NHL Games
Draisaitl 2nd year post draft: 51 points in 72 NHL games
Dylan Strome 2nd year post draft: 75 points in 35 OHL games
PL Dubois 2nd year post draft: 48 Points in 82 NHL games
Heiskanen 2nd year post draft: 33 Points in 82 NHL games
Also important to factor that Kotkaniemi is younger than all of these guys. I don't know why you expect Kotkaniemi to be lighting up the league at 19

You wont get a 3rd overall high draft pick spot for a guy who from who looks to have taken a step back this year.</div></div>
You wouldn't be saying that this time last year when he was the youngest player in the league and put up 34 points. Kid is 19 compared the the 20 year olds you just listed, was injured all year and still came back to produce a ppg in the AHL before getting injured again. A hard year but let's not get to ahead of ourselves here.

Why has Kotkaniemi's value dropped? He's 19 years old with over 100 NHL games played.

TB trade who wins
The problem I have with this scenario is that NHL Teams do not trade their 1C away while they are just entering their prime, Point is the 1C in Tampa so even with a top 10 pick and Suzuki it doesn't make sense for Tampa. Even after this cap crunch they should still be a contending team but trading their 1C negatively impacts that. The Lightning would trade one of Cirelli or Sergachev if there was no other option before they trade Point if it came down to that.

Point is that and will be that for the next decade or so</div></div>
KK has a very respectable rookie season as an 18 year old and Suzuki looked very impressive in his first putting up as good of numbers as Point in his did in his first season. He put up those numbers on a mediocre habs team compared to a much better Tampa team. His IQ is elite in my opinion. Point may be better now but this kid is worth hanging on to. This years pick is going to be a very high one and could land another high potential. Taking into consideration Suzuki’s potential and this stacked draft those two factors are enough for me to not make that trade. Sure Brook didn’t impress too much this season but he was a junior stud and sometimes it takes D a bit of time so I think you let him develop.
Also Tampa is win now just keep Point.

Yzerman's last year and Brisebois' 1st year definitely hurt the Lightning's organization

What's so good about him? Currently the guy is developing to the pro game. He still is 20 years old, needs at least 1 year and a half in the AHL to be even close to making the Habs. I wouldn't be shocked to not see him in the NHL until the 22-23 season tbh

The guy is only 20 year old. He won't be an NHL regular until at the very least 21-22, maybe even 22-23, give him time. Same goes for Liljegren in TOR. If he needs one more AHL season, then so be it

Nobody on Tampa wants to waive NTC
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CaptainFlynnt</b></div><div>?? TB would 100% say yes to this. Solves their $$$ issues. They get Suzuki who honestly could replace Point. Like seriously imagine how good Suzuki would be in TB. They get a top 10 draft pick who should be a really good player, and they get Josh Brook too.
This trade would be a disaster for MTL.
Edit:
Point rookie season: 40 pts 68 games.
Suzuki rookie season: 41 pts 71 games.
TB would literally be replacing Point with a younger and cheaper Point ($5.5M in cap savings) while adding a top 10 pick and Brook.
Its brutal.</div></div>
True. I was mostly thinking about Point’s sentimental value, but yeah, it would definitely make sense for them to do this. Also, I thought that was a 2021 1st.

If i'm MTL i'll do it, but you can't resign him next season. The only way you can, is to trade salary. JVR, Voracek, Hayes ???
Sanheim, Couturier, Giroux, Hart, Farabee need new contract in the next two years. Plus you need to signed some depth player.
if you do this and then you let him walk, that's not a good trade

Homer signings and trades MTL very unrealistic
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Adambuffalo</b></div><div>Pretty sure Montreal's prospect pool has a lot more guys that can play LW than LD.</div></div>
Surprisingly, no. Montreal hasn't drafted a natural LW in the first three rounds since Artturi Lehkonen in 2013. If we take centers that could play LW into account we could add KK and Poehling that's pretty much it but realisticaly you know KK won't be pushed to the wing and Poehling doesn't project as a top line winger. On the other hand it's well known that Montreal had lots of success lately with their LD draftees so that's why I'll never understand why people are always trading our LWs for defenDers.

Habs were going really well with a healthy Drouin. He’s finally breaking out I think. They shouldn’t be too hasty
