Regardless, that's A LOT to give up for a goalie who's statistically coming off his worst year. You can blame the team in front of him, but no one is going to pay that price for him right now *pun intended ;D*

The season after next season after next season

So what happens next season? There's a few names there that may be looking for some money if they pan out like we hope. And there aren't any big contracts ended so Simmonds deal might cause some problems there.

Toronto Maple Leafs: Year 2 of Tavares
There's no way Tavares signs two one-year deals. Even if the combined money is $11 million per year. Job security is just as important as the annual average. One serious injury and he just lost $60+ million.

Getting 3C, G, and Scoring LW

That's a fair argument. Nichushkin helps out their right side, but I'd think Simmonds would be an upgrade on that side for a team looking to win now. But again, fair point.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>linehan10</b></div><div>Getting JVR back makes a lot more sense in my opinion</div></div>
Not a huge fan of JVR. Plus if I wanted to give out a long term contract to a 29 year old, I'd just resign Simmonds then.

Getting 3C, G, and Scoring LW
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DirtyDangles</b></div><div>DAL may not even trade Faksa alone for Simmer. Why Grabner? move Raffl over there and Laughton to LW on 4th and bring up Vorobyov or Vecchionne for the 4C</div></div>
Figured they needed some help on the RW position as they only really have Radulov. And figured they could run with some center combination of Seguin, Hanzal, Spezza/Janmark, Shore.
I like Grabner's speed on the PK. And I don't think Vorobyov is quite ready yet from what I've seen this season in the AHL. I liked what I saw but think he needs just a little bit more time. I wouldn't mind Vecchione but I think Bardreau looked pretty good this season.

Would these moves be plausible...EDM, DET, MIN, MTL
EDM wouldn't like that deal at all. None of those players or picks jump off the page for them to lose their 2nd best player. You want Draisaitl, you'll have to be willing to give up something BIG. Quality over quantity in this case.

He was one of the worst Flyers players 5 on 5 last season. He was pretty much last in almost every statistical 5 on 5 metric you can think of. The only things I can he did well in was FO (which was over 50%) and takeaways (3rd on the team).

The More I think The More I Want Bouchard
If the Flyers were able to draft Bouchard, I doubt he'd be playing in the NHL next season. Hexy would probably pick Myers first since he's more "seasoned".

More Offseason Ideas
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TC_904</b></div><div>I like a lot of what's going on here. I'm just not sure why go out and sign Chiasson to a one year deal to play fourth line wing. Couldn't we bring up an AHL'er to do that? Also if you bring in four new forwards, couldn't you bury guys like Leterha and Weise?</div></div>
Signed Chiasson because I think he'd help out on the PK and brings a little size to the team. Though I wouldn't be opposed to bringing up someone like Cole Bardreau to give a shot if he proves it in camp.
I would like Lehtera and Weise to not be on this roster (buy out, sent to minors, or traded). But I know they aren't going anywhere sadly. Best I can do is hope the Flyers just drag them along in the press box.

Out of curiosity, what are the contracts going to look like the following season. Because the Flyers have to resign Provorov, Konecny, Sanheim, and potentially Laughton.

Not a fan of any of those contracts. For some it's the amount of money, for others I just don't want to see them on this hockey team.

trades with flyers and avs
I don't see Philly accepting that trade. You can argue Pacioretty > Giroux but the value difference between Pacioretty and Giroux to Sanheim and a 2nd/Davidson is too far off. Sanheim is worth much more to Philly than that. Combine this with the fact that Philly isn't looking to move any of their younger D prospects for an older forward, I just don't see it happening. I think Philly established that when they traded Schenn at the draft.

Flyers Opening Day Lineup
I'm not a fan of that third line. Two rookies with another player who spent last season in the AHL. I wouldn't mind it if they all ended up starting Game #1, but not on the same line, even if they do get sheltered.
I do like the TK, Coots, Voracek line to be reunited. Had good results until injuries happened last season.

Few Trades
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NateElder12</b></div><div>wouldn't mind this at all. I hate AMac but he'll be on the team</div></div>
Yeah, in a perfect world he's not on this roster, but we all know he'll end up playing. And his contract isn't killing the team yet. It hurts but he's not blocking any kind of extension for an actual player we care about yet.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Racer243344</b></div><div>If the Flyers are trading for Howard than MacDonald has to be going the other way.</div></div>
He's not who he use to be, but Howard did have a decent season last year (as the backup). And he is a good stop gap for two years until the goalie prospects are ready. At the very least, I trust he can play 50-60 games to lessen the load for Stolarz in his rookie season (not to mention mentor him a little). I'm sure Detroit wouldn't mind getting rid of him since they are committed to Mrazek.

Care to explain a bit more?</div></div>
Well for one we have no idea if any of the prospects will be good. Ghost, Gudas, and Provorov are the only defensemen we have that are good. The Flyers just signed Rubtsov to an ELC today so they aren't going to trade for a guy to block him when it appears they are expecting him in two years.</div></div>
I understand that not all the prospects are going to pan out to be what we expect them to be. Reason why I choose Ghost is because Buffalo is going to want a more proven young left-handed Dman if they are going to trade Reinhart. And that's either Ghost or Provy (think we know the answer to that one).
Also Reinhart isn't blocking Rubtsov. Giroux won't be a #1 center forever. And you said so yourself, no idea if a prospect will be good. I think it would be nice to see Reinhart, Rubtsov, Coots as the future middle core though.
